Just about any size and shape crawlspace can be affected by water intrusion and high humidity levels. As long as there is a dirt floor and walls for water to soak through and crawlspace can be plagued with these issues. The crawlspace featured in these photos was actually one of the taller crawlspaces that we get to work in, which the crew was thankful for. This was more than enough for most of them to stand up in, which is a welcome surprise.
In order to address the high humidity levels in the crawlspace our System Design Specialist suggested that the homeowner have our CleanSpace liner installed to seal the crawlspace up. The CleanSpace that was installed in the crawlspace of this home went all of the way up the wall of the crawlspace. This is something that we do in most of the installations that we do, but it was even more important in this home, since the majority of the wall was dirt rather than block.
Not very often do we find photos that show the difference in damp soil and much drier soil. The area around the columns is a much lighter color and much drier than the soil in the rest of the photo, even though it may not look too damp. This is the danger with high moisture levels, is that it is not always obvious like in this photo. Fortunately this homeowner was able to notice that something was off and called in the professionals to help them out.
Once our System Design Specialist got to the home, he almost immediately knew what the homeowner needed in order to solve the issue with high humidity levels. Since the majority of moisture comes from the floor of the crawlspace, our Specialist knew that the perfect system for this homeowner was going to be to have our CleanSpace liner installed in the crawlspace. Our crew was able to handle this and ensure that this homeowner didn't have to worry about high humidity levels under their home ever again.
High humidity levels in crawlspaces can cause a lot of problems, many that people wouldn't likely expect. When a crawlspace has a high humidity level the cold water pipes and AC ducting under the home can start to "sweat" where the warm, humid air will start to form condensation on the cool pipes, which can leave standing water in the crawlspace. This is one thing that many people don't always realize could be happening in their crawlspace.
Fortunately with the installation of CleanSpace in this crawlspace, we were able to take the worry away from the homeowner. They no longer had to worry about water or moisture in their crawlspace at all, because once it was encapsulated, they didn't have to worry about any moisture being in the crawlspace. The CleanSpace also made the crawlspace look much better, and can even serve as a storage space now that it is somewhat climate controlled and free of moisture.
