There are many different ways for moisture to get into a crawlspace, from the floors, walls, and even the entrance. Seldom do we work in a crawlspace where the homeowner already has a proper door to keep the majority of moisture out. This doesn't mean that homeowners don't have nice-looking crawlspace doors, it is just that the doors aren't effective at keeping moisture out.

This crawlspace door matched the outside of the home and looked great when it was shut. However, it didn't do a great job at keeping the moisture from getting into the crawlspace. It was also made of wood, which while it may not seem like a problem, it provides a great place for moisture to soak into and for mold to grow. Having an old door like this partially defeats the purpose of having the CleanSpace liner installed in the crawlspace because it's a huge area where moisture can get into the crawlspace at.

In order to protect this crawlspace from as much moisture as possible, our crew removed the old crawlspace door and installed a new EverLast door. The EverLast door is a much better option for a few different reasons, one of the biggest being that it creates an airtight seal which prevents any moisture from getting into the crawlspace from the door. Another important feature of the door is that it is made of a completely inorganic material, which means that it will never rot and mold cannot grow on it.

One problem that a lot of homes have in common, is the lack of proper crawlspace entrance. Almost all homes that we visit have some kind of entrance or cover, but they usually are not as good as they should be. Many of the doors that we see have holes in them, cracks around the door, and many other issues. The integrity of the door is extremely important to the health of the crawlspace.

This was the case for this home in Waynesville, North Carolina. As you can see, the yard around the entrance creates a great funnel leading to the entrance. This was a nightmare for the homeowner when it would rain, because the water would just pool around and seep into the crawlspace. This homeowner got more work done inside the crawlspace, which was another reason that this entrance solution was a necessity.

Our solution was this beautiful crawlspace entrance, it almost looks like something out of a Science-Fiction movie! As you can see, the entrance was attached to the home, and then the area around it was backfilled. This was a great solution to this homeowner's problem of the water pooling around the entrance. This also makes getting into the crawlspace much easier and safer. The most important part of this product is that it keeps water and water vapor from getting into the crawlspace, which will significantly decrease the relative humidity level in the crawlspace.

Total Encapsulation in Waynesville, NC

Our All-Dry crew was able to install a series of our waterproofing technology that would take care of the water issue in the crawlspace. Our crew installed a CleanSpace liner, condensate pump, and dehumidifier. When encapsulating the crawlspace with CleanSpace, it seals the area to keep moisture from creeping up from the ground and causing damage to your foundation.   A dehumidifier was placed in the crawlspace as a solution to the humidity that is produced from the pipes under your house. A condensate pump was connected to the dehumidifier to pump the water from the crawlspace. Together with all these tools, the crawlspace is completely protected from moisture.

Standing Water in Waynesville, NC Crawlspace Leads to CleanSpace Encapsulation

Standing water in a crawlspace can be a very serious issue and can even cause health problems in people living in the home. This is something that should be taken very seriously and looked at by a professional as soon as possible. Some crawlspaces are worse than others, but any crawlspace with a high moisture level is never good. Thankfully there is a professional right in your backyard who can help out!

This home in Waynesville was dealing with a lot of water intrusion and standing water in their crawlspace. This home backed up to the side of a hill, which meant all of the water coming down the hill would wind up in the crawlspace of this home. Every time it would rain in this area this would happen, so the owner wanted it fixed as soon as possible. Our System Design Specialist went out to the home and could not believe the amount of water under the home, having huge puddles of standing water throughout the entire crawlspace. However, our Specialist knew that we would still be able to help this homeowner out! With the installation of a few products, this homeowner wouldn't have to worry about a wet crawlspace any longer. Our Specialist suggested the homeowner have CleanSpace, drainage matting, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, a sump pump, and this homeowner actually had sagging floors, so they had SmartJacks installed as well.

The crew did an excellent job when installed this system under the home. The had to start out by digging out an area for and installing the sump pump. After this was done, the crew started to roll out the drainage matting and stake it to the ground. Once the drainage matting was installed, the CleanSpace was rolled out to really seal up the crawlspace. The CleanSpace definitely takes up a good portion of the time, because it has to be done specifically and sealed up properly. There were only a few small things to take care of after that including installing the SaniDry Sedona as well as putting the EverLast Door as the entrance to the crawlspace. While these may seem like minor things, they are actually extremely important to the system.

Basement Waterproofing in Waynesville, NC

This homeowner wanted to work on making their basement more livable and more like a finished basement. This is always something that we like to do because finished basements are a great way to add more room and value to a home! Although an unfinished basement isn't a waste of space, having a liveable basement is great!

While we didn't finish this basement, we helped push it more towards being a finished and more liveable area. We did this by providing a drainage system so that no water would stay in the basement and cause moisture, mold, or mildew problems. We also installed BrightWall Paneling, which helps to waterproof a basement even further, while providing a better-looking wall. Last, but not least a SuperSump sump pump was installed to pump out any water collected by the Waterguard.

This homeowner actually had water seeping through his basement walls, which was causing mold to grow in the basement. Installing the BrightWall and the Waterguard had a profound effect on the crawlspace in several ways. As mentioned before, the most important part of it was the collection and drainage of the water that was causing issues in the basement. The other benefit is how it made the basement look. The bright wall really changed the dynamic of this basement for the better!
