Many people will lay down some type of plastic in their crawlspace to help keep the humidity level down. However, this usually just means that a thin sheet is laid out throughout the crawlspace and that is the end of the story. This misses one of the most important parts of encapsulation, sealing the liner. Sealing the liner is one of the most important parts because it prevents any water vapor from getting into the crawlspace.

Although this sounds like a simple task, it isn't as easy as it sounds. As you can see this homeowner tried to tape these sheets together and then to the top of the wall. This is similar to our process, but because of the quality and lack of experience this homeowner had with waterproofing, this "do-it-yourself" option did not work out nearly as well. As you can see, the corner of the plastic has fallen down.

Our installers are well-versed and have extensive training in the installation of all of our systems. Many of our employees have been working with us for several years, with a few of them having around 15 years of experience here! Needless to say, our crews know exactly how to install all of our products. Not only do we have several methods of securing and sealing the liner, but the crews also try to follow every curve of the area so that the liner won't be pulled away from the wall.

This home in Fletch, NC was experience water dripping down their walls into the basement. When water comes into the basement in this way it can cause several issues for the home. Mold, musty smells, wall damage, and even furniture damage were the risks for this Fletch, NC basement. To solve this issue they called in our All-Dry of the Carolinas team to install WaterGuard and a SuperSump Pump. The WaterGuard system intercepts the water at the perimeter of the basement and drains it unseen and safely into the SuperSump where it is then flushed from the basement. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible! The WaterGuard leads the water to the SuperSump where it is then flushed from the basement outside to the LawnScape outlet. All resulting in a dry basement! The SuperSump Pump is a sump pump that can pump up to 2,650 gallons an hour, has a WaterWatch system, Superliner with 96 holes for water flow, and an Airtight Lid. The SuperSump then drains all water outside through the LawnScape Outlet. Together with these products the basement will be able to remain dry and to avoid damage.

CleanSpace Encapsulation in Fletcher, NC

This homeowner seemed to know what they were doing, to an extent. We see a lot of these thin plastic liners under homes, but usually, they are just haphazardly laid out on the crawlspace floor. This homeowner went through enough trouble to tape the seams between the different sheets of plastic, as well as to tape the sheets high up on the wall. Even though the homeowner went through all of these efforts, it still ended with the same result....calling All-Dry of the Carolinas.

Just like Liam Neeson in "Taken", we have a particular set of skills, with a particular set of tools. We use these tools and learn these skills, because they are the best in the business. The products that we use are incredibly important, but our employees and the methods they are taught when installing different systems are just as important. For this home, our Systems Design Specialist suggested the homeowner go with a CleanSpace Encapsulation, which included; CleanSpace liner, MoldX, a dehumidifier, and SilverGlo Insulation.

When our crew arrived at the home, they began first by removing the DIY solution that the homeowner had done. After that, the SilverGlo started to be installed. SilverGlo insulation helps to insulate the crawlspace, because often times the insulation in the crawlspace is removed because it has mold on it. This was the case for this home. After that was done, the crew began to lay out the CleanSpace Liner, which is what really separates the crawlspace from the "outside". One of the most important parts of this process is sealing the CleanSpace properly. The crew then installed the dehumidifier that can be seen in the last photo, as well as apply MoldX to the floor joists above the crawlspace.
