Jonathan has spent the majority of his life working in construction. During his 15 years in the gutter and carpentry industry, he saw firsthand the extent of damage that water can cause to a home. In addition, he has worked several years in crawl space and moisture solutions, as well as the termite industry. This experience has prepared him to solve an incredibly wide range of water issues that can occur in your home.
Jonathan enjoys meeting with homeowners and helping them solve their crawl space, foundation, and basement water problems to create a healthier living environment and enable them to get more out of their homes. When he isn't at work, he enjoys spending his free time with family and friends, fishing, hiking, watching football, and grilling.
One of the most obvious signs of water intrusion or moisture problems in a crawlspace (besides standing water) is when the insulation under the home is falling down. This was the case for this homeowner. The first photo shows just how much insulation was falling and what had already fallen. The reason that this happens is that insulation easily soaks up water and becomes heavy, pulling the insulation down.
When our Systems Design Specialist went to this home, he knew right away that this homeowner was going to need a CleanSpace Encapsulation. This is the most effective and efficient way to keep water and moisture out of a crawlspace. The homeowner did his own research, and read through some of our informational material, and ended up agreeing with our Specialist, agreeing to get the work done.
The final product was a very clear improvement on the "old crawlspace". The crawlspace with the CleanSpace is much brighter, cleaner, and keeps a lot more moisture out than the crawlspace liner they had covering the ground before! As you can see, the CleanSpace goes almost all of the way up the wall. This is to catch as much moisture as possible, we only leave a small gap at the top so that other contractors who may need to access these areas have the access needed.
Most people use the area under their homes as a storage area, weather it be a basement or crawlspace. However, they aren't always the best places to store some things. This homeowner kept a lot of their things in this area, but did not have any real protection against the moisture. This can be a dangerous game to play, especially when there are important items like pictures or documents stored in these areas.
This homeowner had used another Basement Systems dealer while living in another state, so they knew about the system and how much it would provide them a dry storage solution. The solution proposed to them by one of our Systems Design Specialists, Jonathan Geddie, was a CleanSpace encapsulation, along with drainage matting, and a dehumidifier. This was a pretty simple, but certainly an effective system.
The difference between the area before and after encapsulation is pretty significant. Beforehand, it was just an area that was pretty open to moisture and possibly flooding. Afterwards, it was very protected from water and moisture. This homeowner finally has an area where they can store almost anything without having to worry about it being ruined. It also leads to a healthier home! There are no shortage of benefits from a CleanSpace encapsulation!
This homeowner called All-Dry just in time! Their home had several issues that needed to be addressed sooner, rather than later. They had problems from sagging floors, to a damp crawlspace. In order to correct these problems, our Service Design Specialist recommended several products like; CleanSpace Liner, SmartJacks, Drain tile, a SmartSump, and several other products. While the only product you will see in these pictures is the CleanSpace, several other products were installed to either solve other problems or to assist CleanSpace in its job to keep water and moisture out of the CrawlSpace. If you would like to see a few other pictures from this job, click here.
The "before" photo shows what the crawlspace looked like upon our initial inspection. While we have definitely seen worse crawlspaces, it was not in the greatest condition. While looks do not always matter when something looks as good as CleanSpace AND can provide much better protection you can not help but think that looks do matter!
The "after" picture shows the crawlspace after our products had been installed. However the only product that is actually visible is the CleanSpace. You can see just how big of a difference it made though. One small, but important detail is the covered vents. You can not actually see the sealed vents in the after photo, but they are very obvious in the before photo. Vents let outside air in, which is something that we definitely do not want, the difference in air temperatures and relative humidity can cause condensation to form, which brings even more water into the crawlspace.
This homeowner called All-Dry of the Carolinas when they started noticing a strange smell in their crawlspace. Unfortunately, this is an extremely common sign of a high humidity level in the crawlspace. This crawlspace was not in too bad of shape, but it had enough moisture coming from the ground and walls that they needed some type of system to take care of the problem.
Our Systems Design Specialist, Alex Rogers, went out to this home just a few days after they called, to get a better look at the area and really determine what kind of system this family needed to make their crawlspace happy and healthy. This system included 3-inch drain tile, a SmartSump pump, a dehumidifier, and of course CleanSpace liner. This homeowner got the full CleanSpace encapsulation!
The difference between these two photos is incredible, both physically and functionally. The most obvious difference between the before and after pictures is the CleanSpace that was installed. It completely changes the look of the area, but it also provides a great service. The CleanSpace (along with the rest of the products) keep the moisture out of the crawlspace so that the family doesn't have to worry about this anymore!
This customer had some issues with their garage/storage space. Upon the initial inspection of the job, our Service Design Specialist saw several areas of standing water, as well as damp concrete around the perimeter of the space. This can be very detrimental, and cause problems like; mold, increased heating and cooling bills, and other damage to windows and floors. However, this homeowner called us before any serious or permanent damage was done.
The "before" photo shows an area close to the garage door, a great place for water to get it. You can see a small pool of water, as well as damp/wet concrete that goes all the way off screen. While the garage door does have somewhat of a seal, not enough to keep water out, especially during a heavy rain.
The "after" photo shows the same area as before, but with the installed Waterguard and TripleSafe sump pump. The Waterguard is installed around the perimeter of the basement to collect any water that comes into the basement. The water is then drained through the WaterGuard to the sump pump and is then pumped outside the home. These two products together provide great protection against a wet basement.
