This basement in Lexington, SC was taking on water. Our All-Dry of the Carolinas team installed at WaterGuard. A water guard is a system that intercepts the water at the perimeter of the basement and drains it unseen and safely into the SumpPump where it is then flushed from the basement. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible!
Anything below grade is susceptible to water intrusion in some form. There are several different ways for water to get into a crawlspace or basement, but many times it is mainly caused by hydrostatic pressure pressing against the foundation walls. This is the common cause especially when a home has consistent and continuous water intrusion, however, this can get even worse with heavy rains.
This was the case for this homeowner in Lexington, South Carolina. They had pretty consistent water intrusion through the bottom of the basement walls, but when it would rain heavily the homeowner would really start to notice the water coming in. The homeowner knew that they couldn't just continue to let this happen, so they began to do a little research and found us!
The system that our crew installed in the basement made a huge difference with the water intrusion the home was having. The homeowners no longer had to worry about water getting into the basement with the installation of the CleanSpace and WaterGuard. The CleanSpace is the liner that can be seen on the walls around the basement and helps to catch any water or moisture coming through the basement walls. The WaterGuard can't actually be seen, but is in the floor around the perimeter of the basement. The WaterGuard catches the water that the CleanSpace drains down and then takes it to the sump pump that was installed in the lowest part of the basement, where it is then pumped out.
Our crew installed a WaterGuard and CleanSpace wall system in this basement located in Great Falls, SC.
One of the worst aspects of a leaky basement is what happens to the things you have stored there. Whether the items are memorabilia or old furniture, it’s safe to say that no one particularly enjoys having their possessions ruined. But that can happen with a leaking basement. Blythewood, South Carolina residents knew that all too well.
Too often, they would walk into their basement and see thin rivers of water crisscrossing their way around all items in the space. Many of them were actually ruined. Some were saved. Others were collected and left to dry out in the sun. It wasn’t a fun process.
Now pictured we have ourselves a solution: WaterGuard and a SuperSump. Both of these products were essential to stop the out pouring of water. WaterGuard is our patented, flexible drainage system. It collects the water as it falls from the walls. It is then directed into the SuperSump pump. The pump then takes the water and pumps it out of the basement and away from the homes foundation.
With these products in place, all storage items can confidently be welcomed back into the fray.
The owners of this home did not come to us unprepared. The funny thing about these homeowners is that they came to us with the idea that they needed both a dehumidifier and a sump pump. Incidentally, they were right. What they also needed was CleanSpace.
The “after” photo pictures this well. During the product install, we were able to plug in CleanSpace in every inch of this crawlspace. We even covered the support piers in this thick material. The SuperSump pump was installed next. This item actually receives the water and it is pumped out of the crawlspace.
I know the homeowners are quite satisfied with what we’ve done here, and our team was satisfied with their handy work as well.
