Water getting into the basement of a home can be a pretty scary thing because, well, there shouldn't be water in the basement at all. However, water intrusion in a basement is unfortunately very common and something that we see almost daily. There are a few different ways and reasons why water gets into a basement, but we believe that there is only one permanent solution. Our solution addresses the water intrusion from the interior of the home.
This basement in Greenville had some very serious damage caused by water intrusion. While there were many areas that were affected by the water intrusion, the area pictured in the first photo shows off some of the more intense damage in the basement. Most of the damage is towards the bottom of the wall where the majority of the water was coming through. When our System Design Specialist visited the home and saw this, he knew exactly what was going to be needed to take care of this issue for good.
The second photo shows the same area but after our crew had come out to the home to install the system. The most noticeable part of the installation is the CleanSpace liner that can be seen covering just about the entire wall. The CleanSpace catches any water that may get in through the basement wall and directs it down to the WaterGuard drain. The WaterGuard is actually on the floor of the basement and has been covered with concrete in this photo. The WaterGuard goes along the perimeter of the basement and collects the water coming into the basement and then drains the water down to the sump pump where it can be pumped out and away from the home.
Water intrusion and high moisture issues are something that many homeowners have to deal with but don't actually know about until it is too late. It is quite common for people to think that a little moisture or water in a basement or crawlspace is relatively normal and is not a big deal. While a small amount of water in an area every once in a while may not be a huge issue, over time these issues can get worse and worse, causing serious damage to a home.
The "before" picture shows off the basement of this home after they had water intrusion for quite awhile. There is a huge area around the bottom of the wall and a large portion of the floor that has very obviously been damaged by the water intrusion. It was difficult to tell how long the water intrusion issues had been going on, but with as much damage as the area had, our Specialist believed it had been going on for quite awhile.
The "after" photo shows the same area after our crew came in and installed the system that our Specialist designed for the homeowner. The system included CleanSpace, WaterGuard, and a SuperSump Pump in order to take care of the water intrusion issue. The CleanSpace on the walls helps to catch any water that may be making its way through the walls. The CleanSpace then drains that water down to the WaterGuard, which is a drain that is installed in the floor around the perimeter of the basement. The WaterGuard then drains the water down to the lowest point in the basement, which is also where the SuperSump is located. The SuperSump is a very important part of the system because it is what really pumps the water out of the home.
This Greenville, SC crawlspace was needing help. The crawlspace was covered with dirt and mud. Insulation hung from the ceiling and mold covered the walls. Our crew installed a CleanSpace liner, sump pump, and dehumidifier. When encapsulating the crawlspace with CleanSpace, it seals the area to keep moisture from creeping up from the ground and causing damage to your foundation. A dehumidifier was placed in the crawlspace as a solution to the humidity that is produced from the pipes under your house. A SumpPump is to flush out entering water and excess water from the dehumidifier from the crawlspace. Together with all these tools, the crawlspace is completely protected from moisture.
This house in Greenville, SC was sitting on a hill, with the front of the house leaning into the hill. From the front of the house the basement isn’t visible like it is in the back. Since the front part of the home’s foundation was underground, it is more likely to take in ground water. That is the case in this situation; ground water was seeping through the front foundation into the basement causing a real mess. There was clear evidence of water damage when our design specialist Jonathan Geddie showed up to give the home a look. The basement’s wall paint had begun to chip, there was a buildup of sand that would leak in with the water, and water stains were all over the concrete floor and walls.
This issue was quickly becoming a pain to the homeowners so they decided to go with the solution that Jonathan had quoted them. Jonathan quoted them a combination of waterproofing technology that consisted of WaterGuard, CleanSpace Wall, and a SuperSump Pump.
The “before” picture shows what the walls and room looked like after a long time of water damage. The “after” shows the space once the WaterGuard and CleanSpace has been added.
