Crawl Space Encapsulation

Our crew installed CleanSpace to encapsulate this crawl space for a homeowner in Buffalo, SC.

North Augusta, SC crawl space encapsulation

As summer starts in the south, humidity levels rise. Homes are left vulnerable to the warm moist air that comes into the homes crawl space. As air rises in a home, it works as a vacuum, sucking in the air from outside. This warm air that enters the crawl space can cause damage to your home. The humidity that is sucked into the house can damage insulation, wood floors, and foundations. Along with that, humidity can also produce mold and mildew which will produce odors and increase health risks.

This home in North Augusta, SC was having high levels of moisture in their crawl space and they decided to protect their home from the issues it could cause. This homeowner called us at All-Dry of the Carolinas and had one of our design specialist, Alex Rogers, come to their property to give a free estimate. Alex noticed the high moisture and suggested to the family that they install a water proofing combination of CleanSpace, a SuperSump Pump, and an Aprilaire dehumidifier.

CleanSpace was installed in the crawl space by our All-Dry crew on the floors, walls, and support beams. CleanSpace is a heavy-20 mil-thick-liner that works to keep moisture from the ground from getting into the air. The CleanSpace is permanently held in place by drilled-in fasteners and spikes. The edges, seams, and pipe penetrations are sealed. Along with protecting the crawl space, CleanSpace brightens the area and allows you to easily see if the space is free of mold, insects, and dirt.

The SuperSump pump was also added to the crawl space. The SuperSump is one of the best pumps for basements. It is able to pump up to 2,650 gallons of water an hour and resists clogging by pumping up to ½ inch of solids. It has a strong airtight lid so once it is placed into the floor is stable enough to sit things on it without fear of damaging the pump. Along with its great pump design, it has a WaterWatch Alarm system that will alert the home owner if the pump has stopped working and water has reached the top of the pump.

The Aprilaire dehumidifier was also placed into the crawl space to pull additional moisture that is produced from under the home out of the air. This dehumidifier covers 2,200 square feet of space, pulling the moisture from the air and draining the water into the SuperSump pump.

Together with all of these products, our team was able to decrease the amount of humid moisture that was getting into the house

Saluda, SC Crawlspace Experiences the Difference CleanSpace Can Make

This ‘before’ photo is awfully deceiving. It looks like a relatively normal crawlspace, doesn’t it? Well, for many homes, it is. Dirt floors in crawlspaces are the cheapest option and so many people go for it. It makes sense, that is, until it doesn’t.

You want to know the reason why your floors are freezing?

Dirt crawlspace.

There’s funny smell in the house?

Dirt crawlspace.

You have a little mold here and there?

I don’t need to say it again.

There are issues that arise that you don’t even know about.

That’s what this Saluda, South Carolina homeowner found out the hard way. This homeowner was finding mold in different parts of her house. She didn’t know how or why it was happening, but we were able to sit her down and tell her what was going on.

The air from the moisture filled air from the crawlspace traveled up into the rest of the home, taking all sorts of little hitch-hikers with it.

Once we were able to take a look at the home and install All-Dry’s patented CleanSpace, the issues were rectified. Just look at the ‘after’ photo. The crawlspace looks completely different. What’s more, there’s an actual barrier now that can protect the home’s inhabitants from whatever rises from the ground and into the open air. CleanSpace stops it dead in its tracks.

Crawl Space Encapsulation

CleanSpace was installed to encapsulate this crawl space for a homeowner located in Johnston, SC.

Chester, SC Crawl Space Encapsulation

This homeowner had a large amount of moisture in its crawlspace when they called us, but this was not the first time they dealt with water intrusion issues. Previous to water issues in the crawlspace, they had water intrusion in their basement, that was solved with a different company and products, however, they did not want that company to do more waterproofing work, so they called us. This was a relatively simple and quick fix, but a very important one, because of just how much moisture was getting into the crawlspace.

The "before" picture shows off the how the ground in the crawlspace is almost like mud, that's a lot of water! You can even see where mud has pushed, rubbed on the hot water heater. This crawlspace was in some pretty rough shape, but with a little bit of work and a great product, our crew made this crawlspace look like new!

The "after" picture shows the huge transformation that happened in this crawlspace. Our crew had a lot of different objects to go around in this area but did it with expertise. Sealing this crawlspace is one of the biggest parts of the job because of its importance. If it is not sealed correctly, then the moisture is still going to make its way into the "encapsulated" crawlspace.
