Total makeover in Westminster, SC

This home in Westminster, SC had a crawlspace that needed major help. The homeowner had begun to experience issues with moister collecting in the crawlspace that was leading to mold. Mold caked the floor joist which was damaging the strength of the home’s foundation.  With the mold issue, water was pooling along the perimeter of the crawlspace. Old installation hung from the ceiling while a dirty liner covered the dirt floor. Water and moister was getting into the crawlspace through unsealed piping entrances, the foundation, and a ratty old crawlspace door. All of these issues could’ve led to cold floors, higher heating cost, insects, odors, unhealthy livings space, etc.

To solve this problem, our All-Dry of the Carolinas team was able to use a series of our products to help this crawlspace become a clean, moister free environment. Mold-X Cleaner was used for cleaning the contaminated mold surfaces in the crawlspace. Mold-X’s purpose is to remove and reduce staining from mold, mildew, dirt, soil, and other organic debris from surface areas in the crawlspace.

After cleaning the crawlspace of debris and draining the standing water, our team got started with installing CleanSpace. CleanSpace is a 20 mil tick liner that is laid across the crawlspace floor and wrapped around walls and piers. This liner works as a barrier to keep moister that is produced from the ground out of the crawlspace. In addition to the CleanSpace a SuperSump was added to the crawlspace as a way of pushing excess water that enters from outside. The SuperSump can pump up to 2,650 gallons an hour, has a WaterWatch system, Superliner with 96 holes for water flow, and an Airtight Lid. The SuperSump works in coordination with the Aprilaire, a dehumidifier which is used to collecting extra moister that is produced under your home.

West Union, SC Crawl Space Encapsulation

This homeowner in West Union, SC was having some difficulty with water intrusion in their crawlspace. Water was building up under the home, which began to worry the homeowner, which was good on their part. They called our company to take a look at their crawlspace, and one of our Systems Design Specialist was able to give a quick and simple solution!

The "before" picture shows what this area looked like before our crew came in to install the CleanSpace liner. You can see the condensation that has accumulated under the old crawl space liner that had been put in the crawlspace before we came to the home. The good thing is that the water is being trapped under the liner, however, because it is not sealed correctly, the water is still able to into the crawlspace.

The "after" picture shows the area after the CleanSpace and drain matting was installed in the crawlspace. A picture is really worth a thousand words when it comes to jobs like these. You can see such a huge difference in the crawlspace with the CleanSpace installed. Not only is the liner functional, by keeping the water vapor from getting into the crawlspace, but it also makes the crawl space brighter and more "welcoming". The area is much cleaner and more pleasant to work in.

Low Clearance Crawlspace in Salem, SC Gets CleanSpace Encapsulation

The majority of the crawlspaces that we inspect and encapsulate live up to their name. Some crawlspaces the crew can crawl on their hands and knees, sometimes they have to crawl on their bellies, and sometimes the crew can even crouch or even walk! But some crawlspaces can be even tighter than making the crew crawl on their bellies. However, there are very few crawlspaces that we aren't able to encapsulate and fix. Some may need a little extra work, but nothing we can't handle.

This particular crawlspace was extremely damp and when the area would receive heavy rains the problem would get even worse. The homeowner actually noticed problems with his floors which led him to search for a company who could help out with these issues. He was able to find us through some online research and we had one of our System Design Specialists visit the home. The Specialist almost immediately knew that the home was going to quite a bit of work, and when he saw how tight some areas under the home got, he knew that we'd have to come up with a solution to reach these tight areas.

The best solution to reach those areas was for the homeowner to remove the floor/sub-floor around these areas for our crew to be able to reach the areas. While this may seem like a lot to do, this was actually the best and most cost-effective solution. The crew was able to get into the crawlspace and lay out the CleanSpace liner and completely seal up the crawlspace of this home. This project had several different products that helped to keep the moisture out of the crawlspace, but the CleanSpace was definitely the part of the project that the crew had spent the most time perfecting.

Damp Lake Toxaway, NC Crawlspace Leads to CleanSpace Encapsulation

Many people have liners similar to the one shown in the photo installed. While these liners can help out a little bit, they certainly cannot keep water and moisture out in the long (or even short) term. This homeowner had found this out the hard way when the high moisture level continued to increase. This plastic liner was much too thin to provide proper protection against the moisture and it also wasn't sealed correctly, which is the bigger issue.

The "before" picture shows part of the crawlspace with the thin, plastic crawlspace liner. Fortunately enough this homeowner caught the high humidity level content before the too much damage was caused to the crawlspace. Once the homeowner noticed the high humidity levels, he immediately starting to search for someone to solve this issue and found us! Our System Design Specialist was happy to help this homeowner solve this issue in the best way possible.

The "after" picture shows the same area, but with the CleanSpace Liner installed. The CleanSpace is much thicker than the old liner, but just as importantly, it is sealed tightly to the walls of the crawlspace. The crew also wraps the piers (or posts in this case) and tape the seams to make sure that moisture can't get in through their either. Not only is CleanSpace great at keeping the water out of the crawlspace, but it also makes the crawlspace look much better!

CleanSpace Installed in Lake Toxaway, NC Crawlspace After Water was Found

Water in the crawlspace of a home is something that a homeowner never wants to see, but unfortunately many do. Water in a crawlspace can lead to many different problems such as high humidity levels, mold growth, and wood rot. The longer that there is water in the crawlspace, the worse these problems can get, because if water is able to get in once, it more than likely can get in again.

The before picture shows a crawlspace that had quite a bit of water in it mainly from water intrusion through the walls. This is a very common issue that is usually caused by pressure from the soil, which presses water through the crawlspace walls. Having this water in the crawlspace can cause a lot of troubles, such as mold growth or even wood rot. Fortunately, this homeowner caught the issue before too much damage was done.

The after photo shows off what the area looked like after the CleanSpace was installed in the crawlspace of the home. Having the CleanSpace installed completely changes the look and function of the crawlspace. The CleanSpace makes the area look and feels a lot nicer and cleaner, but that isn't even the best part! More importantly, the CleanSpace acts as a barrier to separate the crawlspace from the ground, helping to keep the water out of the crawlspace.
