Pelzer, SC Has CleanSpace Liner Installed

This homeowner in Pelzer, South Carolina told our Design Specialist that they weren't experiencing any problems in particular, but felt that this was a good investment. And sometimes, that can be very true. Even if they weren't experiencing major issues, from the look of the crawlspace, this needed to be done anyway. Many crawlspaces have dirt floors, but many of those crawlspaces suffer from high humidity levels and moisture issues. This is because of the water vapor escaping into the crawlspace from the dirt. Not many people often thing about it, but water vapor, when let alone, can cause all sorts of problems. The moisture can rust cables, rest in wood, and welcome in an entire fleet of temites.

And so, to protect this space from future problems, we installed a CleanSpace liner. This is a 20 mils thick plastic material reinforced with polyester cords.  This material is perfect for keeping that moisture at bay and, thus, sealing the entire space. The finished product is pictured here in the after photo.

Damp Crawlspace in Belton, SC Gets CleanSpace Encapsulation

This homeowner called All-Dry of the Carolinas because they were getting a strange odor throughout their home, which they believed was caused by something in their crawlspace. This is something that we see quite often. When crawlspaces (and basements) have water intrusion, and stagnant water in them, a musty smell usually tags along with it. Since the air in a home cycles from the bottom-up, this smell can make its way throughout a home.

Fortunately, this issue is pretty easily solved with a full encapsulation system. The dampness and water in crawlspaces usually come from the ground, so when getting CleanSpace installed, it essentially seals off the crawlspace from the outside world. We have had several homeowners say that even within a week or two after our system was installed that the smell had completely tapered off.

CleanSpace works so well because it is very different than a "traditional" crawlspace liner (like the black one in the before picture). CleanSpace is a 20 mil-thick liner, similar to a pool liner that doesn't allow water or water vapor to get through. Not only does the liner itself prevent anything from getting through, but the crew completely seals the liner to the walls with tape and caulk, to make sure no water vapor gets around the sides.

Belton, SC Crawl Space total encapsulation

This home in Belton, SC was experiencing water issues in their crawlspace. Because of the puddling of water in the crawlspace, mold had begun to form in areas. The mold caused weakening of the foundation which caused the floor joist to begin to sag.

To solve this problem our All-Dry team had to follow many steps, first the mold needed to be removed. Our All-Dry of the Carolinas Team used Mold-X, this product not only kills existing mold, but prevents further growth.

Once the mold issue was tackled, our team used a series of our waterproofing technology to save the home from the water effects in the crawlspace. To begin, CleanSpace liner was added to the crawlspace. CleanSpace is a 20 mil tick liner that is laid across the basement floor and wrapped around walls and piers. This liner works as a barrier to keep moister that is produced from the ground of the basement. In this specific case, the CleanSpace was just placed on the walls; this was to hold in moister that came from the water that dripped down the walls when entering the basement. Once the CleanSpace Wall was installed our All-Dry crew installed our SuperSump pump, which is a pump system that can flush up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour from the basement.

Once the waterproofing products were down, our team installed SmartJacks. The SmartJacks were placed under the floor joist of the home and then used to push the floors back into place. To install it, we excavate a two-foot cube at each SmartJack location. The hole is then filled with concrete or engineered to create a stable, loadbearing footing. The SmartJack sits on top of it with a custom-engineered base to prevent the support system from sinking when the moister starts to affect the soil. SmartJacks are then adjusted to the perfect position to support the floor joist of the home. This SmartJack technology, is made of steel which will not rust when exposed to moister and it can also hold over 60,000 pounds! This product was able to save this homes sagging floor problem.

With the combination of All-Dry’s different products, this crawlspace in Belton was thankfully saved.

Crawlspace Encapsulation with CleanSpace in Taylors, SC Home

This homeowner called All-Dry just in time! Their home had several issues that needed to be addressed sooner, rather than later. They had problems from sagging floors, to a damp crawlspace. In order to correct these problems, our Service Design Specialist recommended several products like; CleanSpace Liner, SmartJacks, Drain tile, a SmartSump, and several other products. While the only product you will see in these pictures is the CleanSpace, several other products were installed to either solve other problems or to assist CleanSpace in its job to keep water and moisture out of the CrawlSpace. If you would like to see a few other pictures from this job, click here.

The "before" photo shows what the crawlspace looked like upon our initial inspection. While we have definitely seen worse crawlspaces, it was not in the greatest condition. While looks do not always matter when something looks as good as CleanSpace AND can provide much better protection you can not help but think that looks do matter!

The "after" picture shows the crawlspace after our products had been installed. However the only product that is actually visible is the CleanSpace. You can see just how big of a difference it made though. One small, but important detail is the covered vents. You can not actually see the sealed vents in the after photo, but they are very obvious in the before photo. Vents let outside air in, which is something that we definitely do not want, the difference in air temperatures and relative humidity can cause condensation to form, which brings even more water into the crawlspace.
