Here is what part of the basement looked like before our crew had started working in the home. While the water intrusion is not extremely obvious, you can see a few signs of water damage, mainly in the corner shown in this picture, and some other spots along the wall.
While this is not the most clear picture, the area in the background is clearly covered in dirt/clay. This is a very clear sign of water intrusion into a basement. The water brings the particles of clay into the basement, and deposits it there when the water evaporates. So now, not only is your basement wet, but dirty as well!
It is always difficult to show off our WaterGuard, because it is covered with concrete right after installation. As you can see, you can hardly see anything except for a small gap along the wall, between the floor and wall. The water is caught right here, before it even has a chance to really get into the basement.
Here is the dehumidifier that was installed in this basement. This is one of the stand-up dehumidifiers that we install in order to help keep the humidity level of the basement down. This helps to prevent mold and mildew from growing, because it keeps the humidity level of the basement lower than mold needs to grow.
Here is a more inclusive shot of the WaterGuard that was installed. As you can see, the WaterGuard was installed all of the way down this wall, and around the corner. The main area where water was coming through was this wall, so WaterGuard was installed along this wall, and a few feet on the adjacent walls.
Here is the drain line for the dehumidifier that was installed. The WaterGuard has a neat little hole that allows for a drain line to easily be installed, so that the dehumidifier drains straight into it. The only thing that wasn't shown in this photo album was the SuperSump, which is where all of the water will drain to. The sump pump then pumps the water out and away from the home.
This homeowner was dealing with water intrusion in their basement for a while before they began searching for a solution. Unfortunately, this led to even more issues, including more extensive water intrusion and some mold growth. It wasn't too far gone, though. Our Systems Design Specialist was able to get out there and figure out the best solution for the homeowner! For this home, our Specialist recommended WaterGuard, a SuperSump pump system, and a dehumidifier.
