This Spartanburg, South Carolina home reported a huge moisture issue in its basement. In particular, the home owners were having a lot of trouble with the walls of the basement. Unsure of how to deal with the issue, they decided to give All-Dry of the Carolinas a ring.

When the homeowners called us over, our Design Specialist found a bit of a mess.  See  the “before” picture.  If we take a closer look at the walls, we can see a ghostly, dried substance. That’s called efflorescence, or dried water; it’s what is left behind when water has been into the space. It’s evidence. It makes the otherwise handsome walls appear dirty and old. It also leaves behind a musty smell no home owner wants. Part of the reason this happens is the fault of the material. Concrete blocks are porous. They’re excellent tunnels for which water droplets to slip through into your home. The best way to fight this is to put CleanSpace Wall into place. It prevents water from drying on the walls, and it is secured using multiple methods so it won’t “just fall down” without provocation.

Pictured in the ‘after’ photo, you can see how the CleanSpace Wall can make a difference. The space is brighter; it looks cleaner and there is no evidence of that mischievous water residue. The space is, in a word, transformed. Along the edge of the CleanSpace, you can see evidence of newly poured cement. Those dark strips highlight where we’ve laid WaterGuard. This is an effective piping system placed on the inside of the home. It’s placed against the wall, catches excess water, and sends it to the Triple Safe Sump pump to be carried out and away from the home. You’ve got to admit, this is now one spiffy looking basement.

While these photos may not seem like this basement was in that bad of condition, a case study that was also done on this home will show you a much different story. Areas in this basement were starting to crumble because of how much water had been coming in and damaging the area. The sump pump that we installed will certainly help keep this area from flooding and causing problems.

The "before" picture shows an area that had been severely damaged by all of the water that had come through over the years. Interestingly enough, even though the homeowner had a sump pump, the damage and issues were not taken care of. This is because in most cases the problems won't go away just because there is a sump pump. The water can still raise the relative humidity level and begin to grow mold.

The "after" picture looks almost like a different home. The work that our crew was able to do in this basement was incredible. While the main focus of this post is the TripleSafe sump pump, you can also see the CleanSpace and the ThermalDry Flooring that we installed, both products that help to keep the water from staying in the basement. However, the TripleSafe is the best sump pump system that we have, and is called the TripleSafe because of its three separate pumps. One of these pumps runs on the DC power provided by the battery back-up, which you can also see in the after picture.

Unfortunately, this homeowner was dealing with some active mold in their basement when they decided to call All-Dry of the Carolinas. Like many other homeowners that we have seen and helped, this homeowner knew that mold under the home could cause a lot of different kinds of problems. The main one being the health of the people living in the home. Our Systems Design Specialist came out to the home in order to determine what could be done about this problem in this customer's crawlspace.

The "before" picture shows the crawlspace before the any of the work was done in the crawlspace. As you can see, the homeowner had already had a crawlspace liner laid out. However, this liner is extremely ineffective when it comes to keeping moisture out of the crawlspace. One of the main reasons that these types of liners do not work well is because they are not sealed along the walls, columns, or even together.

The "after" picture shows a much different story than before any work was done. This photo shows what the finished basement looked like when the crew was done with it. This customer wanted to make sure that they never had to worry about mold in their crawlspace ever again, so they went with the full encapsulation. As you can see, the CleanSpace goes all the way up the walls of the crawlspace, this prevents even more moisture from soaking through the walls.

Spartanburg home gets CleanSpace Wall and WaterGuard

This home in Spartanburg, SC was experiencing water in their basement. Water would come into the basement by dripping down the walls and puddling in the floor around the perimeter of the space. To solve this problem our All-Dry of the Carolinas team installed CleanSpace Wall and WaterGuard.

CleanSpace wall was added to the wall to keep the moister and water concealed as it drained into the WaterGuard. The WaterGuard system then intercepts the water at the perimeter of the basement and drains it unseen and safely into the SmartSump where it is then flushed from the basement. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible! The WaterGuard leads the water to the SuperSump where it is then flushed from the basement outside to the LawnScape outlet. All resulting in a dry basement!

Moisture Problems in Crawlspace in Spartanburg, SC Lead to CleanSpace, SuperSump and EverLast Door

If the home is where the heart is, the crawlspace of the home makes up the intricate web of nerves that surround the heart. It’s—quite literally—the nerve center. Your crawlspace and comfy home is separated only by a wooden floor, which isn’t always sufficient to keep that heart running efficiently. Many people know this because they will have insulation installed. In theory, it’s a good idea. However, if the insulation is damp, it doesn’t always do its job. In the winter time, your floors will be cold. During the summer, it will be hot. Now, this isn’t entirely the insulation’s fault.

Many homes have vents that connect the crawlspace to the rest of the home. These vents, of course, are open, so that moist air will travel all the way from your crawlspace into your home. As the air travels, it will take along many other unwanted things with it. But that’s not the only issue. Having a dirt crawlspace is problematic. It’s a cheap, easy option in the beginning. Regardless, in the long run it can end up costing you more money than you first realized. That is what this Spartanburg, South Carolina homeowner discovered when they continued to have moisture problems in their home and crawlspace.

The heavy rains didn’t help. The walls would leak whenever there was a storm, flooding the crawlspace and staining the walls. It was a bit of a mess when they finally contacted All-Dry of the Carolinas to come and take a look. But, that’s to be expected. Our Design Specialist, Jonathan Geddie, came out and took a look at the home. In the end, it was decided that the crawlspace needed our patented CleanSpace liner, an EverLast Door, a SuperSump pump, and the vents needed sealing.

After the job was finished, all of those aforementioned problems just disappeared. I’m sure the homeowners are more than happy then went ahead and gave us a call.

Spartanburg, SC Flooding Basement Gets CleanSpace Wall, WaterGuard, and Triple Safe Sump Pump to Save the Day

If you have moisture issues in your basement or crawlspace, odds are that you’re fully aware of it. Moisture issues in the basement can be made known by a variety of issues. One of the more obvious, most prominent signs of moisture issues is the evidence that water leaves behind once it has broken into a space and dried. Nine times out of ten, this evidence is almost always an unsightly mess.

Let’s take this home in Spartanburg, SC as an example. Before this homeowner decided to give All-Dry of the Carolinas a call, whenever it rained too hard they experienced a small flood right into their basement. When the water dried, it left behind dirt, debris, and an unwelcome stain to mark its territory. Despite visiting only during large down pours, the water had left its calling card. And this calling card would be shooed and scrubbed away, only to return in a few weeks with a vengeance. What’s more is that this was a problem the homeowners could not ignore. They didn’t sleep in this space, but it was frequented quite often by the home’s inhabitants. In the picture, you can even see a bike. This issue couldn’t go ignored.

Finally fed up, they called in the experts and we got to work. Our Design Specialist for the project prescribed a few items to rid the home of all of its water issues.

We installed CleanSpace Wall, the white material we use to line the space. It’s a 20 mils thick, reinforced material corded with polyester. It’s similar to a pool liner, but it’s extremely durable and nearly impossible to rip or tear. What the CleanSpace does is stops water vapor, drains wall leaks and dramatically brightens the basement. To actually get rid of the water, we installed our TripleSafe Sump pump and paired it with the WaterGuard drain system, our LawnScape outlet and the Sedona dehumidifier. As an added measure, we also installed a Vehicle Traffic Drain. Altogether, the system was able to rid the homeowners of their horrendous moisture issue.

Crawlspace with High Humidity Levels in Spartanburg, SC Has CleanSpace Encapsulation System Installed

High humidity levels are a key indicator that a crawlspace may be in rough shape. When the humidity in a crawlspace is high, many times the humidity will cause water to condense on the cold pipes and ducting that run below the home. The water will then often drips off and pools down below. While this is not always a big deal, especially at first, it can certainly turn into some pretty serious issues.

This happened to be the case for this home, and can be seen in the first photo quite easily. There is also a very obvious line that runs the length of the ducting where the water had dripped down. If left unchecked, this could have easily turned into a more serious issue, like mold beginning to grow. Fortunately, the homeowner gave us a call and we sent one of our System Design Specialists out there to figure out exactly what needed to be done. This crawlspace needed quite a bit of work in order to make sure that this homeowner never had to worry about a wet crawlspace anymore!

The next part of the job was for the crew to come out and install the system that was quoted by our Specialist. The crew started of by digging out an area for the SuperSump pump and installing it. After this they began getting into what can be seen in most of the photos, the drainage matting and more importantly the CleanSpace liner, which really seals up the area. Last but not least, they crew brought in and installed the dehumidifier. While the CleanSpace does an excellent job at keeping water and moisture out, the dehumidifier is there just to ensure that the humidity level is low enough the mold growth is prevented.

Mold Leads Spartanburg, SC Homeowner to CleanSpace Crawlspace Encapsulation

This homeowner called us when they suspected that mold was growing in their crawlspace. This is never a good thing and was certainly something that we wanted to check out quickly. Mold can cause some pretty severe health problems, if not taken care of promptly. The homeowner's suspicions were confirmed when our Specialist Alex Rogers went out to the home. There was active mold in different areas in the crawlspace, and was something that definitely needed to be taken care of.

Fortunately, this is a very common issue that we see with homes almost daily. The mold was certainly in the crawlspace, but could have been much worse. Our Systems Design Specialist suggested a perfect solution for this problem, which included a CleanSpace encapsulation and a dehumidifier. These two products are able to work together in order to provide a great atmosphere to keep moisture and mold out.

When our crew arrived at the home, they begin by cleaning out the crawlspace. This meant mainly picking up debris such as insulation and the old crawlspace liner in order to prepare the area for the CleanSpace liner. By removing all of the debris, we make sure that the crawlspace is set up and cleaned out to our standards. The CleanSpace liner is then laid out along the walls and floors of the crawlspace. The sheets of CleanSpace area sealed together, as well as at the top of the walls. After the CleanSpace was installed, the crew then installed the dehumidifier. The dehumidifier helps to keep the relative humidity low enough so that mold will not grow in the crawlspace and create any other problems.

Crawlspace Encapsulation in Spartanburg, SC

Some homes that we work on are worse off than others, this home was somewhere in the middle. It certainly was not as bad as some of the homes that we do, but it was in worse shape than many of them. This homeowner was dealing with quite a bit of water in his crawlspace, which was beginning to cause problems with mold in the crawlspace. When the homeowner knew that he needed professional help, he called us to see what we could do.

A lot of different options were proposed to the homeowner, but they decided to go with a pretty intense solution, which includes; 3 inch drain tile, CleanSpace Liner, sealing vents, an EverLast door, a LawnScape Outlet, and a SuperSump pump! This homeowner wanted to be certain that they were extremely protected when it came to their crawlspace, which is why they decided on going all out for this system.

Our crews started off with the drain tile and SuperSump, because these products had to be installed under the CleanSpace Liner, while most of the rest did not have to be. The only thing left to put on before the CleanSpace was for the crew to seal the vents, which prevents air from coming through the vents and into the crawlspace. After these products were installed, our crew began to lay out the CleanSpace, which is one of the most important parts of the system. After the CleanSpace was done, the crew started to install the "complementary" products such as the EverLast door and LawnSacape outlet (which can be seen in the third photo. These products are extremely helpful in making an encapsulated crawlspace even better!

If you're in Spartanburg or the surrounding area, please give us a call! As you may have guessed, we specialize in basement and crawlspace waterproofing, as well as foundation repair. Our number is 1-833-567-3972.

Crawl Space Repair after Mold and Fungus found in Spartanburg, SC

This homeowner in Spartanburg had some pretty serious issues in his crawlspace. A lot of water that pooled up under the home caused a lot of damage under the home. The moisture under the home created an environment in which mold and fungus could and did begin to grow. This customer needed a lot of work done to encapsulate their crawlspace and keep the moisture out. Not only did they have problems with their crawlspace, but they also had issues with soft, bouncy, and sagging floors. It was safe to say that their home was is pretty bad shape, but it was not anything that our experts at All-Dry of the Carolinas could not handle!

The first thing that we had to address was the sagging floors. In order to correct the floors and provide a stable place for the homeowner and family to walk on, we used SmartJacks. In fact, we had to use 21 SmartJacks in order to get this home into a stable position. We also had to install supplemental beams for this home. The supplemental beams are used when there is either too much room between the existing girders or when the existing floor joists/girders are not as able to support the home.

After the SmartJacks were taken care of, we needed to work on getting the crawlspace into order. This was a much bigger job that needed many more products to make sure it was secure and the homeowner would not have to worry about a flooded or even wet crawlspace. One of the first things that needed to be done is to clean off any mold or fungus that was growing. Our crew does this by using Mold-X, which kills existing mold and helps to prevent future mold growth. After this, we begin to install our products. The main product that we installed was our CleanSpace Liner. The liner is what really provides the protection from the outside world and what prevents moisture from getting into the crawlspace. Auxiliary products that we installed along with the CleanSpace include; a SantaFe Dehumidifier, SilverGlo Insulation and a SuperSump sump pump. The dehumidifier takes out any moisture that does make its way into the crawlspace and drains it to the sump pump. Both the SilverGlo insulation and the SuperSump are installed before or during the CleanSpace installation, this is because the SilverGlo goes behind the CleanSpace and the sump pump must be installed before the CleanSpace is laid down or the seal would not be nearly as good.

While this customer needed a lot of work done on their home, it was all worth it in the end. To have the peace of mind that your home will always be safe for your family and that when you go to sell your home, you will not have to worry about all the extra repairs the buyer wants or even just hoping that anyone will be interested in your home. We are here to make your lives better, less stressful, and to keep you, your family, and your home healthy.

Basement Waterproofing in Spartanburg, SC

This customer wanted to make sure that when it rained, they didn't have to worry about their basement flooding. Basement flooding can cause a lot of headaches. Not only do you have to have it pumped out or drained in some way, you have to worry about all of your furniture and other items getting soaked and damaged beyond repair. This is especially devastating when you have photo albums, heirlooms, and other precious items on the floor of your basement.

Luckily, this family called us before they had to worry about any of these things. They decided to do install some simple, yet effective products to keep their basement from becoming a swimming pool. The two main products they had installed were Waterguard XL and a SuperSump sump pump. These two products together can do a lot of good. This family also installed a small amount of CleanSpace liner.

The CleanSpace Liner helps to keep any water from penetrating the drywall and getting into the basement, while also creating a slide for any water or moisture down to the Waterguard. The Waterguard is installed on the perimeter of the basement in the floor. It collects any water that comes from the basement wall (where the CleanSpace is installed) or if water somehow makes its way into the basement. The water is then channeled to a sump pump which pumps out the water.

This family in Spartanburg will not have to worry about any flooding in their basement...ever. They went with a few products that will provide a lot of protection from the rain and flooding that has and could happen in Spartanburg.
