Basements suffering from water intrusion is something that we see every week here at All-Dry of the Carolinas. Sometimes these can be just a small amount of water, however sometimes basements can have a huge amount of water getting into them. This home was somewhere in between, water wasn't completely flooding in but there was also not a small trickle.

The before picture gives a great look at one of the areas that the water was coming through. This wall was backed up against the side of a hill which was where a significant part of the water was coming through. The water in the ground began to soak through the block foundation, and would get even worse when the area would have heavy rains. This would be a difficult problem to solve from the outside, but our interior drainage can handle this easily!

The after photo shows the same area after our interior drainage system was installed. The two products that can be seen in this picture is the CleanSpace Wall and the WaterGuard Drain. There was also a SuperSump pump system was installed in order to pump the water out and away from the home. All of these products work together in order to provide a system that keeps the basement dry. The CleanSpace Wall catches any water that comes through the wall and drains it down to the WaterGuard. The WaterGuard is installed in such a way that it angles down towards the sump pump.

This system has been installed thousands of times over the past 27 years and has been proven as an effective way to prevent water intrusion and damage in a basement. If you believe you are having similar problems and would be interested in a system like this, please contact us today! There are many different ways for moisture and water to get into a crawlspace. Most often we see the majority of moisture coming through the ground and walls of the crawlspace. However, there are many other places that moisture can get into the crawlspace, through small cracks, where pipes exit the crawlspace and a number of other places. One place that many people may not realize a lot of moisture can get in is the entrance to the crawlspace, which is usually a wood door with some kind of latch.

Unfortunately, this homeowner didn't have a great door to seal up the entrance to their crawlspace. Something is always better than nothing, but just because a door is covering up an area does not mean that moisture can't get into the crawlspace. Fortunately, our System Design Specialist knew how serious of an issue that could be and suggested that during our installation, that we also include an EverLast door to replace the old one!

The new door was a welcome addition to the crawlspace of this home. The EverLast door ensures an airtight seal around the entrance to the crawlspace. This is important because it is just another way to better seal off the crawlspace and keep as much moisture out as possible. It is also made out of inorganic material which means that mold won't be able to grow on it and the homeowner won't have to worry about it rotting away.

Job Stories From Brevard, NC
High Moisture Level in Brevard, NC Leads to Installation of the CleanSpace Encapsulation System

Moisture under a home is something that many homeowners have to deal with. People don't realize how widespread of an issue this is, mainly because they aren't sure exactly what a crawlspace should look and feel like. There is a lot more science behind crawlspaces, basements, and homes in general than you could imagine. Changing one thing in the crawlspace may not only affect the crawlspace but the entire home. This is what our system takes advantage of.

This particular homeowner thought that there was too much moisture in the crawlspace of the home and decided to look into solutions for it. Through some online research, they were able to find us and wanted to have one of our System Design Specialists come to visit the home. We sent our Specialist out soon after they called in to schedule an appointment, and figured out what the best option would be for this homeowner. The Specialist suggested that the homeowner have CleanSpace installed as well as a dehumidifier.

The next step was for the crew to head out to the home and start the installation of the CleanSpace liner. While there weren't many products to install in this crawlspace, the area was quite large, so the crew had a big task ahead of them. Fortunately, they were able to start working through laying out the CleanSpace and get into a rhythm of installing it. After the CleanSpace was installed and properly sealed up by the crew, the last thing that they had to do was to install the dehumidifier in the crawlspace. The dehumidifier is installed in order to keep the humidity level of the crawlspace below the point where mold is able to grow.

Mold and Soaked Insulation in Brevard, NC Crawlspace Leads to CleanSpace Encapsulation

Mold and mildew are never great things to see in the crawlspace of a home. If either one is already in a crawlspace, then it means that the moisture level of the crawlspace is too high. Mold can cause health problems, especially in older adults, children, and people who already have trouble breathing, like those with asthma. The best way to remedy this is to control the moisture level and then remove the mold from the area.

This home in Brevard had severe moisture issues in their crawlspace, which had caused mold and mildew to start growing on the floor joists and other wood throughout the crawlspace. It took quite a while before the homeowner noticed the moisture issues, but once they did they began searching online for people to come out and take a look at the issues they were having. Fortunately, they found us and had one of our System Design Specialists come out to the home to figure out exactly what was wrong. The homeowner thought the system would work great and scheduled to have the crew come out!

A couple of weeks later the crew headed out to Brevard to install the CleanSpace encapsulation system for the homeowner! One of the most important parts of this project was laying the CleanSpace out to cover the crawlspace floor and walls. This helps to really seal off the crawlspace, preventing water and moisture from getting into the area. The crew had a few other products to install, the most important ones being the SaniDry dehumidifier and EverLast door. The dehumidifier ensures that the relative humidity level of the crawlspace stays below the point where mold is able to grow. The EverLast door creates an airtight seal around the entrance to the crawlspace, which helps to keep out even more humid air!
