Crawlspaces can end up causing a lot of trouble for homeowners, especially when in such a humid climate. Water intrusion and high humidity affect a lot of crawlspaces and basements in our region, so we have gotten very good at fixing these kinds of problems in homes. This can be a very serious issue, which is why we treat it as such when assessing homes for customers.

This homeowner had a pretty rough crawlspace when our Specialist went under the home. They had a much higher humidity level than they should have, and because of this mold and mildew was already making appearances in the crawlspace, which the homeowner was worried about. The bad thing about a high humidity level is that it is pretty much completely invisible, so unless you have to proper tools, you can't tell.

However, our CleanSpace Liner completely transforms the look and function of a crawlspace. Almost the entire crawlspace has been covered in CleanSpace, which helps to keep moisture from getting into the crawlspace. This particular homeowner wanted to get the liner all the way up the walls, to really protect them from any further water. One thing that is often missed is the debris that the crew removes, which if you look between the pictures is extremely obvious. The crew will take out most of the rocks/bricks/etc in order to make sure that the ground is level and no rocks will go through the CleanSpace.

Job Stories From Pickens County, SC
CleanSpace Liner and Accompanying Products Installed in Liberty, SC Home

Unfortunately for this homeowner in Liberty, they had some pretty serious water problems in their crawlspace. Luckily for them, they caught the water intrusion before it caused any major foundation or moisture problems. They noticed some standing water under their home, which is what caused them to call us. You can see some of this water in the second photograph. While this is the most obvious problem, it is not the only one. You can also see a bunch of mud and dirt on their previous liner. This shows us that water has been getting into the crawlspace and washing the dirt onto the liner, then sitting their and drying. This drying means that the humidity levels in the crawl space are increasing, allowing mold to grow.

To help these customers with their crawlspace, we installed several products including: CleanSpace Liner, drain tile, an Everlast Door, a dehumidifier, a LawnScape outlet, and a SuperSump sump pump. While the main product is the CleanSpace liner, all of the other products help CleanSpace to keep doing its job. The CleanSpace liner helps to seperate the crawlspace from the "outside world", and it does a great job at this. However, the other products listed above help to keep the water drained and the relative humidity of the crawlspace controlled. You can see the CleanSpace liner installed in the third picture to the right of the text. This customer went all out, and had the CleanSpace installed all the way up the wall.

While there are not pictures all of the installed products, one product that we do have a picture of is the LawnScape outlet. This outlet is connected to the sump pump, which pumps out any water that comes through the foundation, ground, etc and flows through the drain tile. The LawnScape outlet is usually installed a few feet away from the home on a downward slope. This way the water is pumped out of the crawlspace and down hill, so that the water does not run back down the drain the the sump pump. This would make the sump pump redundant, and have to re-pump water that it has already pumped once before.

CleanSpace Installation & Sagging Floor Repair in Central, SC

This home in Central had some moisture problems in their crawl space. The photos included along with this job story don't quite do it justice. The moisture was so high and had been present long enough to really soak into the insulation, enough so that the insulation began to fall. While there was not any standing water, there was a lot of wet and damp areas in the crawlspace.

The first thing we did for this homeowner was to remove any wet or damp materials, mainly the entirety of the insulation out of the crawlspace. We did this first because we don't want anything wet and that can grow mold easily to stay in the crawl space. After the crawlspace is cleaned out, our crew scrubbed down the moldy areas with Mold-X. All of these things work together in order to get the mold out and keep it out for the time being.

This customer also needed some SmartJacks to be installed in order to help support their sagging floors. After all of this work was completed, and the SmartJacks had been installed, our crew went to town on installing the CleanSpace Liner. While the Mold-X kills the mold, the CleanSpace keeps moisture out, so that mold does not have a chance to grow. The CleanSpace Liner is shown off in the last two pictures. CleanSpace is a vapor barrier that essentially separates the earth from the home. It seals the crawlspace and doesn't let any moisture or air to seep through it.

While CleanSpace is great, we install a few different products that really keep the moisture out of the crawlspace. The two main products we installed in this home to aid in keeping the crawl space dry were the Santa Fe Edge II and a SmartSump sump pump. The SmartSump is generally in the lowest part of the crawl space and pumps out any water that it collects under the CleanSpace liner. The SantaFe Edge II is a dehumidifier. The dehumidifier takes out any moisture that makes its way into the crawlspace, through tiny holes and cracks around pipes, ducts, or any other fixtures.

Crawlspace Encapsulation in Six Mile, SC

This homeowner in Six Mile, South Carolina was pretty concerned with their crawlspace when they started to notice strange things going on with their crawlspace. They wanted to make sure that nothing was wrong, so in doing some research, they found our company and decided to have a Systems Design Specialist come out to complete a free estimate. In this estimate, our Specialist found out that this crawlspace needed some work.

The Specialist suggested a full encapsulation with a dehumidifier for this particular crawlspace, as well as removing the insulation. Once our crew was able to make it out to this property, they started getting to work. The first order of business for our crew was to get the insulation out from under the home. We removed the insulation because it was wet and we did not want any mold to grow and continue to cause problems for the homeowner.

After the insulation was removed, the crew began to lay down the CleanSpace Liner on the crawlspace floor. One of the only pictures of the CleanSpace liner we have available is a picture that was taken in one of the tighter areas of the crawlspace, which can be seen in the last photo. Once the CleanSpace was rolled out, the crew had to make sure all of the seams were sealed properly, which includes the outside walls as well as the support columns under the home. The last order of business was to bring in the dehumidifier, and get it running!

Crawlspace Encapsulation in Easley, SC

This crawlspace was in pretty bad condition when the homeowner first met with one of our Systems Design Specialist. Even though this picture was taken after the work had begun, the ground is still soaked through, almost like mud. This water under the home had already started to cause the owner problems with mold, because of the increased relative humidity levels in the crawlspace. After our Specialist came out and and inspected them home, he suggested this homeowner go with a full encapsulation of the crawlspace, as well as additional products that would keep this problem from reoccurring.

This solution included drain tile, Mold-X, CleanSpace, a SmartSump, EverLast Door, a SaniDry Dehumidifier and SilverGlo Insulation. While there are a few of these that are extra important, these products are all necessary to ensure that this homeowner doesn't have  to worry about this happening again and damaging their home. While these pictures don't show every single one of these products, they do provide a significant view of what went on under this home!

The first few items that were installed were the 3 inch Drain Tile, the SmartSump pump, and the SilverGlo Insulation. The sump pump is almost always installed first because the location of the drain depends on the sump pump location. The other reason that these are installed first is because they all have to go under another few layers of products. Next comes the drainage matting, which can be seen in the third photo. This drainage mat helps to move water along the ground, so that it can be drained out. Then we have the icing on top, our white CleanSpace liner, which helps to bring everything together and seal it all up! The only thing left to do after the CleanSpace was installed and sealed up was to put on the finishing touches like putting in the EverLast Door (which creates an airtight seal around the doorway) and put in the dehumidifier.

This system does a great job at keeping the water at bay and allowing a home to be much healthier and safe. If you are looking for a system similar to this one, please give us a call at 1-833-567-3972 or fill out a contact form on our website! We look forward to hearing from you soon!

High Humidity Level in Sunset, SC Crawlspace Corrected with WaterGuard and SuperSump

This basement had a very high relative humidity level, which was high enough for mold to grow. Fortunately, the homeowner called All-Dry of the Carolinas before the problem got that bad. We were able to send a Design Specialist out to the home to assess exactly what should be done for this homeowner to have a safe and healthy basement. This is a relatively simple process that only takes an hour or two!

For this home, our Specialist proposed for 80 feet of WaterGuard to be installed, as well as a SuperSump to pump out the water. This is a pretty average basement waterproofing job, and this system does an excellent job in keeping water from staying in the basement of the home. Another great thing about this system is how low-profile it is, with everything being completely covered up, besides the sump pump.

The crew started this job by digging out an area for the sump pump and the WaterGuard drain around the perimeter of the basement. The crews use jackhammers to break up this area, which usually isn't more than a few inches away from the wall. After the concrete is removed, the system is ready to be installed in the basement. The crew starts first with the SuperSump pump system, by assembling the pumps in the sump liner. After that, the WaterGuard is installed and connected to the sump, so that the water can be pumped away from the home. After this, new concrete is mixed and the WaterGuard is covered.

Strange Smells in Easley, SC Crawlspace Lead to CleanSpace Liner to be Installed

This homeowner began to worry about the state of their crawlspace when they began to notice a strange smell. Many homeowners have this same issue, but don't realize that this can be a sign of an unhealthy crawlspace. This homeowner had put off this issue for awhile, but when he began to notice it was an issue, he actually tried to fix it by installing a dehumidifier himself.

Unfortunately the problem was worse than what just a dehumidifier could take care of. This homeowner was in need of an encapsulation system to prevent any further damage in the crawlspace. They did some online research and came to our company's website. They scheduled a free estimate with one of our Systems Design Specialists in order to see exactly what would need to be done to properly fix the issues that the crawlspace was having. It wasn't long before the Specialist had done his inspection and showed the homeowner what needed to be done. The Specialist suggested that the homeowner have the vents sealed, as well as drainage matting, CleanSpace liner, and a SmartSump pump system.

The homeowner was excited to finally have his crawlspace taken care of professionally and have his problems solved for good! This was accomplished when our crew came out to encapsulate the crawlspace. They first began by digging out an area for the SmartSump to be installed in. Next, the drainage matting was laid out along the crawlspace floor. The drainage matting assists water in getting to the sump pump. Last, but certainly not least came the CleanSpace Liner, which sealed everything up tight. The CleanSpace is what really creates a separation between the crawlspace and the outside.

Clemson, SC Crawlspace In Desperate Need Finds a Solution

We should all be aware of the effects a crawlspace can have on a home. Even crawlspaces built according to Building Code can have an adverse effect on the homes above them. Many homes in the past and present have received the “okay,” but still suffer from moisture problems. These homes will continue to suffer as long as dirt floors are allowed in crawlspaces. There’s no other way around it. It’s large issue that tends to reach into small homes. That’s, honestly, one of the reasons this home is suffering now. That dirt floor, despite the thin liner, contributes to most of the moisture in the space.

This particular home in Clemson, South Carolina is up to its ears in moisture. The vents allow outside air inside to further disrupt the moisture inside the space. The trouble does not end there. The walls steadily allow in water from the outside. Once the water floods in, it has nowhere to escape. It either rests in the dirt (or on top of the liner) or evaporates into the air, adding to the humidity.

The insulation in this crawlspace is no stranger to suffering. Any insulation installed here is filled to the brim with water. And, as you know, damp insulation is basically a decoration. Once it’s wet, it immediately loses all of its insulation value.

When our company was contacted, we sought to rectify those issues. Design Specialist, Jonathan Geddie, offered the homeowner a free estimate and went about inspecting the home. He came back with all of the issues listed above highlighted. He also came back with a short list of products to eliminate those problems. Our crew, led by Foreman Jose Najera, installed drain tile, CleanSpace, drainage matting, an EverLast Door, a SmartSump, vent covers, and a Lawnscape Outlet.

The CleanSpace liner acts as a barrier. It protects your home from the earth including water vapor and natural gases. The drainage matting goes beneath it, directing the water to the SmartSump. The EverLast Door’s role is every bit as important. It’s sealed tight to keep the outside air. This is important because once the outside air mixes with the inside air, it can drastically affect moisture in the crawlspace. The vent covers are essential for this as well. Now that all of this has been completed, it is a better space for it.

The owners are happy, we’re happy, and there is nothing left to do other than to celebrate its completion. However, if you have any water issues in your basement or crawlspace, use this story as an example and reach out to us. We’ll be sure to take care of it for you.

Crawlspace with Mold and Moisture Problems in Easley, SC is Given the Right Solution

Crawlspaces, if left to their own devices, will stage a revolt against you. There’s nothing worse than a neglected crawlspace. Once it falls into disrepair, it can be difficult to stomach it, let alone fix it.

Take this Easley, South Carolina crawlspace for example. Mere words could not do this crawlspace true justice. And so, please, look at these pictures.

Thick, clumps of mold decorate the wood like canned snow. Every piece of insulation is drowned in water and weighed down by the force of it. Much of the insulation has fallen down completely, unable to stay in place. Some of the crawlspace floor is covered by a thin plastic, but not all of it is so lucky. The rest of the dirt floor is completely exposed to the air. This is problematic because it allows water vapor to rise from the dirt right into the air. The water vapor only adds to the moisture in the already humid air.

The door to the crawlspace is no exception to this. The entire thing is made of wood and haphazardly holding on to its hinges. It’s not secure. It’s weather beaten. It’s allowing outside air into a hailstorm of bad air. A door like this—just like the dangling insulation—is not helping your crawlspace. The owners, unknown to the terrors down in their crawlspace, had no idea.

Thankfully, they decided to reach out to the professionals. They gave All-Dry of the Carolinas a call and we were able to set them up with an appointment. Design Specialist, Jonathan Geddie, knew that the crawlspace needed a lot of help. He suggested the owners encapsulate the space.

After finalizing the proposal, our crew, led by Ray Petry, set to work. His crew of three applied Mold-X a mold solution to the more prominent areas of mold. They picked up the insulation, removed the current liner, and applied the drainage matting against the dirt floor. The drainage matting is a dimpled polyethylene membrane that is inserted beneath the thick CleanSpace liner. This provides an extra addition of separation from the dirt floor. The liner is the much needed barrier that separates the home from the earth. The piers are also wrapped with this material to complete the seal and all of the vents are covered.

The SmartSump is installed and connected to both the LawnScape Outlet and the Aprilaire 1820. The Aprilaire dehumidifier removes the moisture from the air, collects it and funnels it to the SmartSump. The SmartSump directs this water out into the LawnScape outlet. The EverLast Door provides the finishing touch. This completely seals the crawlspace off from the outside air, keeping it moisture free.

All crawlspaces are different. Some require more attention than others, but the fact remains that All-Dry consistently delivers. For those with particularly troublesome crawlspaces, we invite you to give us a call for your free estimate.

Circular Basement In Easley Gets WaterGuard

This home in Easley, SC was experiencing what happens to basements once hydrostatic pressure beings to effect ground water. Easley is located in Upstate South Carolina, which is a hot spot for thunderstorms and heavy rains. When all of this rain water gathers in the ground, it begins to pressurize. As gravy pulls down on the water, it wants to seep throughout the ground. If there is something blocking the waters way, such as a basement wall, it will push against it until there is somewhere for it to go. Water typically finds a weak spot and makes its way through the basement walls. That is what happened in this Easley basement. The homeowners had bung to put in wood flooring in this circular basement when they noticed that water was coming into the area. They called us at All-Dry of the Carolinas to come out and give them help with this problem.

We sent out our design specialist Jonathan Geddie to this home to check out the problem and to offer a solution. When Jonathan got there he noticed that water was seeping up through the floor where the wall meets the floor. This ground water was starting to leave mold and to avoid it spreading further they decided to waterproof their basement. Jonathan quoted them a job that consisted of WaterGuard, CleanSpace, and a SuperSump pump.
