Job Stories From Macon County, NC
Crawl Space Encapsulation in Otto, NC Home

This mountain home in Otto, North Carolina needed some work done in its crawlspace, mainly the installation of our CleanSpace Liner. While there was some water intrusion into this home, it seemed that this customer wanted peace of mind more than anything. Since he would not be in the house all the time, he wanted to make sure he was protected even when he was not home.

In order to provide him with the best option and protection for the home, we installed a CleanSpace Liner, SantaFe Edge II Dehumidifier, and SuperSump sump pump. These three products together are a great defense against moisture and mold. While they are all very important products, CleanSpace definitely takes the cake. This is because of the protection provides and the redundancy it takes out of the other two products. CleanSpace is great by itself, but more than likely moisture will find its way into the crawlspace through tiny cracks and holes around pipes, wires, and anything else. More than likely, water will find its way under the CleanSpace, whether that be from the ground or from outside the home.

Since it is difficult to overcome nature, we install these other products. We install the SantaFe dehumidifier so that any moisture that does get into the crawlspace, is taken out of the air and sent to the sump pump. We have sump pumps in the crawl space so that the water that comes up from the ground and any that make it through the walls get pumped out. While the standing water may not cause problems in the crawlspace, it could still produce odors and have other effects under the CleanSpace.

We're glad to have helped this Otto resident and hope that anyone seeking basement, crawl space, or foundation repair will give us a call!

Foundation Repair with Wall Anchors in Otto, NC

This home in Otto, North Carolina had some pretty serious foundation issues in their basement, mainly the basement walls bowing inwards. This bowing was bad enough, that our Service Design Specialist noticed it from outside the home. In the first picture, our specialist is able to stick his figure under a ledge caused by the bowing walls.

While serious, this issue was something that our company and crews had dealt with many times before. Our specialist knew that a few wall anchors would be more than enough to whip this wall into shape! So our crew got to work on installing the wall anchors. The last three pictures are great action shots and should be cherished because it isn't often that we get shots of the crew working, only what they've accomplished.

Although these pictures aren't in order, they are all vital parts of wall anchor installation. The second picture shows one of our crew members tightening the wall anchor bolt. This helps to keep the wall anchor tight to the wall to prevent any further bowing. The third picture shows the crew actually drilling the hole for the rod that connects the wall anchors. The final picture shows off our crew member doing a little extra cleaning. All of our crews do their very best to leave a customer's home in BETTER condition than we found it in.

We hope that this helps you understand how wall anchors work, just a little better. As the saying says, "a picture is worth a thousand words"! If you have any foundation issues like this home, or crawlspace or basement problems, call us today!

CleanSpace Installed in Wet Highlands, NC Crawlspace

The owner of this home started to notice a strange smell coming from their crawlspace, and when it was not going away, they decided to give the experts a call. One of our Systems Design Specialists went out to this home to inspect the crawlspace, and come up with a solution to solve the homeowner's problems. Our Specialists go through a lot of training to prepare them for every problem or scenario that they may run into, so this Specialist knew exactly what to do!

This was a relatively simple solution in order to encapsulate the are and provide a safe and healthy crawlspace for the owners of the home. The first couple pictures show what the crawlspace looked like before our crew got to the house to install the CleanSpace liner. While there are no obvious areas of water or water intrusion. There are a few areas where you can see mud, mostly around the perimeter of the crawlspace in the first two pictures. This is partially where the strange smell was coming from.

The final two pictures show what the crawlspace looks like after our crew installed the CleanSpace liner, as well as a dehumidifier. The CleanSpace under this home completely sealed the floor and walls, so that no water vapor could get into the crawlspace. While the dehumidifier is not in any of the pictures, it was installed and is there in order to keep the humidity level of the crawlspace at a level that doesn't allow for mold or mildew growth.

Cracking Home Foundation in Highlands, NC

While water intrusion issues in crawlspaces and basements can be extremely frustrating and sometimes harmful to a person's health, foundation issues are on a whole other level of safety. While it may take a long time for a foundation issue to really do serious damage to a home, if this damage is done, it can ruin whole parts of a home. Walls collapsing and foundation issues can cost an enormous amount of money to get repaired, so taking care of them early is certainly the way to go.

This homeowner probably should have called sooner than he did, but he still caught the problem before it got too bad. This was a more unique case because of the location of the crack, which was right on the edge of the home's foundation, that was also connected to a retaining wall. Since this was the case, our System Design Specialist suggested having wall anchors installed all along the retaining wall, as well as a few installed on the foundation wall of the house under the garage.

The first photo shows off one of the major cracks that was the homeowner's concern when he first contacted us, this crack can also be seen in the second picture. The cracking was mainly caused by the retaining wall being pushed out by the driveway. In order to correct this, the wall anchors were installed and tightened to slowly pull the wall back to its original position. This is done by digging holes on the other (driveway) side of the wall and placing an anchor plate in it. A long rod is them put through the wall and ground until it can be connected to the plate. After this is done for all of the anchors, they are tightened.

If you're noticing cracks around your home, either inside or out, give us a call at 1-833-567-3972 or fill out a customer contact form so that we can call you back and set up a free estimate with one of our great Systems Design Specialists!

Water in Crawlspace Leads to CleanSpace Encapsulation of Blythewood, SC Crawlspace

This crawlspace was in pretty rough shape after dealing with high moisture and relative humidity levels for awhile. This moisture began to allow mold to grow on some of the floor joists and insulation in the crawlspace. This was a pretty serious issue that needed to be dealt with sooner, rather than later. Our Systems Design Specialist, Alex Rogers, went out to this home to see what he could do for the homeowner.

The first couple of pictures show what the crawlspace looked like when Alex went out to the home for the first time. As you can see, the crawlspace was in pretty bad shape, with mold growing on the floor joists and some of the insulation. You can also see in the second photo that the area looks washed out, meaning that there was a significant amount of water that was in the crawlspace at some point. Alex's solution included CleanSpace, a SuperSump pump system, and a SaniDry dehumidifier.

The crew started with pulling out some of the problem insulation and cleaned up some of the floor joists with mold on them. Then the crew dug a hole for the SuperSump to be installed. After this they moved on to the CleanSpace liner, which can be seen in the last two photos. The CleanSpace covers all of the ground, and almost all of the wall, besides a small strip at the very top. Once the CleanSpace was down, the only thing left to be installed was the SaniDry dehumidifier. This helps to keep the relative humidity level of the crawlspace down, which keeps mold from growing.

ThermalDry in Scaly Mountain, NC

All basements are uniquely different than others. Although some basements might require the same process of work to manager moisture levels, sometimes there are other routes to take. This basement in Scaly Mountain, NC took a route of action that is rarely used anymore.

To address the issue of moisture in their basement they had our All-Dry of the Carolinas team install The ThermalDry Wall System. Our ThermalDry Wall system is a type of vapor barrier that has two different sides. The side that is attached to the wall is made of bubble wrap. This bubble wrap provides space for the water that is leaking down the walls to flow into the WaterGuard. The bubble wrap also works as insulation for the basement. On the other side of the ThermalDry Wall system, it is made of foil; this foil is used to reflect heat back into the basement.

WaterGuard was also added to the perimeter of the basement. The WaterGuard system intercepts the water at the perimeter of the basement and drains it unseen and safely into the SuperSump where it is then flushed from the basement. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible! The WaterGuard leads the water to the SuperSump where it is then flushed from the basement outside to the LawnScape outlet. All resulting in a dry basement! The SuperSump Pump is a sump pump that can pump up to 2,650 gallons an hour, has a WaterWatch system, Superliner with 96 holes for water flow, and an Airtight Lid. The SuperSump then drains all water outside through the LawnScape Outlet.

In the ‘Before” picture you can see our All-Dry of the Carolinas team preparing the basement to the installation of WaterGuard. In the “After” picture you see a fulling insulated basement with ThermalDry Wall and WaterGuard.
