Job Stories From Anderson County, SC
Crawl Space Encapsulation in Anderson, SC

This home in Anderson had a crawlspace with several problems. Upon initial inspection, our Service Design Specialist noticed a lot of moisture and water accumulating under the home. This water was getting soaked up in the insulation as well as the floor joists under the home. This is bad news because of several reasons; 1) the water in the insulation can bring make it sag or even fall down 2) the water can rot the wooden floor joists, and 3) this increased moisture is a gold mine for mold. The first two pictures are great examples of just how much water was under this home and the damage it can cause.

In order to help this homeowner and their crawlspace, we recommended a full encapsulation using our CleanSpace liner. This is a relatively simple process, but once completed it gives the crawlspace a lot of protection from moisture and mold. Since this home had more issues than normal with drainage, our crew installed a 3-inch drain pipe around the perimeter of the crawlspace. After this is done, the crew moved on to the biggest part of the job, which was actually laying down the CleanSpace liner. This membrane keeps water (and other things like rodents or insects) from actually getting into the crawlspace. Also installed in this crawlspace is a dehumidifier and a sump pump. These two products work together to keep water from getting and staying into the crawlspace area. This finished product is shown off in the last photo.

Crawl Space Repair in Williamston, SC

Saying that this was the worst basement that we have ever seen would be an overstatement, but not by too much. This business had some major issues in this crawlspace. The biggest issue was that the crawlspace had been flooded several times. The water level on the wall can be seen in both the second and third pictures. This water line goes up at least several inches, if not a foot.

This water brought in a lot of moisture, which led to a lot of mold growth and wood rot. The first picture gives a great look at one of these areas. Most of the wood in this area is almost completely soaked through, which not only weakens it but gives it a great place for mold to begin growing. That is exactly what started to happen, and because it was not caught right away, the entire crawlspace was scrubbed down using Mold-X, which prevents mold from growing back on the floor joists.

To keep this from happening again, our crew installed a 3-inch drain tile, which then leads to a SuperSump pump. This drain tile is actually a rigid, plastic pipe with holes drilled, covered in a mesh sock and covered in gravel. What all of that does is to help filter out larger things and particles, so that the sump pump does not get clogged up.

While this crawlspace could have had more products installed to make it even less likely to flood or grow mold, this was a solution that the customer and our service design specialist came up with to work within the customer's budget, but also solve their problem efficiently.

Water Intrusion Fixed by Crawl Space Encapsulation in Townville, SC

This home had a lot of problems with moisture in their crawlspace, and they needed a permanent solution in order to keep their crawl space and home healthy! This unencapsulated crawl space was having issues with water intrusion, mainly vapor from the ground. Fortunately, this is a relatively easy problem to fix and is something that we do almost daily here at All-Dry!

Our System Design Specialist Mike Lee went to this home and did a thorough inspection to make sure that there weren't going to be any surprises for us. Mike didn't find anything out of the ordinary and made his recommendation on what should be installed in the crawlspace. His recommendation was for CleanSpace, SilverGlo Insulation, a french drain, and a SaniDry dehumidifier.

The first order of business was to install the french drain, which helps to move water to drain out of the crawlspace. After the French drain was installed, the crew put in the SilverGlo insulation. SilverGlo helps to, you guessed it, keep the crawl space insulated, since the old insulation will be removed. SilverGlo isn't always necessary, as the CleanSpace does a pretty good job of climate control, but it definitely does help!

After these initial products were installed, our crew sealed it all up with our CleanSpace Liner. The CleanSpace is the product that really separates the crawlspace from the ground, which is the most important part of the work; making sure that the crawlspace is separate and sealed off from the outside. Once the CleanSpace was in, our crew installed a SaniDry dehumidifier in order to keep the moisture and relative humidity down.

Honea Path, SC Basement Foundation Waterproofing

This homeowner had some pretty serious problems with water coming through their garage wall. This water intrusion got even worse when there were heavy rains which is what was going on when our Specialist first went out to the home, and what can be seen in the first picture. Some problems that we see can be ignored for awhile (although they certainly shouldn't be), but this was not one of those cases. This leaky garage needed to be taken care of as soon as possible.

Luckily for the homeowner, even though the problem was bad, the solution was not a very difficult one. Our Systems Design Specialist suggested that the homeowner have our WaterGuard drain system installed around the walls of the garage, a TrenchDrain installed in the front of the garage, and finally a sump pump to pump out all of the water that collected in the drain.

Our crew made it out to the residence a few weeks after the inspection to help solve this homeowner's problems once and for all. The first order of business was to remove the concrete where the drains were to be installed. After this was taken care of, the crew moved onto the actual installation of the SuperSump and the drains. This is a relatively simple task, besides the fact that the drains must have a slope to em, so that the water will drain to the sump location to be pumped out. After everything is installed, our crew pours new concrete over the affected areas and cleans up any mess that they may have made!

Crawl Space Repair & Encapsulation in Pelzer, SC

Our crews have worked in some pretty tight crawl spaces, but this one in Pelzer is definitely one of the smaller areas that we have worked in! The entrance of the crawlspace does not look too much different from your average crawlspace, but it did not get too much taller than that! If you look through the pictures you can see just how tight it was, especially in the areas with ductwork and pipes.

Fortunately for this homeowner, our crew members are used to being in these small, cramped spaces and were still able to install the CleanSpace Liner. Which was actually the only product that was installed in the crawlspace, because this was more of a "vanity" project than a needed system, which happens every once in awhile. People realize the value of our systems and will get it as a precaution or sometimes just because it looks good!

Besides the very low clearance and the tight squeezes between the pipes and ducts, this was a pretty normal and easy installation. Our crew went through the normal processes and procedures that they would with any home. It took a little more time than usual because of those difficulties, but our crew was still able to install the system quickly!

We want to hear from you! If you're in the Pelzer and the surrounding areas, and you think you could benefit from our services, including; crawlspace and basement waterproofing, and/or foundation repair, please give us a call or fill out a form on our website so that we can call you!

Homeowner in Belton, SC Gets CleanSpace Encapsulation for Healthier Air

This homeowner called about an encapsulation mainly because of the smell that was coming from the crawlspace and into the home. This is an extremely common issue, and fortunately one of the many benefits of our systems includes the air in the home smelling better. There is not any special process that we have to go through to make this happen, it just does when the system is installed.

This home had some dampness in the crawlspace, but they weren't getting enough water to warrant getting a sump pump installed. Our Systems Design Specialist suggested the homeowner go with CleanSpace Liner, Drainage matting, and a SmartDrain. This is a very similar system to others that we install, except the SmartDrain was installed instead of a sump pump.

The SmartDrain was the first product installed when the crew got to the home, which was installed in the middle of the main compartment in the crawlspace. This was the lowest part of the crawlspace, where all (if any) water would drain to. It also has a WaterWatch Alarm, which alerts the homeowner if the SmartDrain is filling up. After that, the Drainage matting is laid out, and finally it is completely sealed up with the CleanSpace. This is what really separates the crawlspace from the outside.

Water Intrusion in Basement Creates Problems for Iva, SC Homeowner

This homeowner had a lot of items stored in their basement, including a lot of papers, including magazines and boxes. These are all things that you don't want to have in an area where a lot of water comes in. Basements can account for a large portion of a home, but when they're wet, moldy, and smelly it makes them difficult to use and enjoy. Fortunately for this homeowner, we had the perfect solution to their water intrusion issue.

When our System Design Specialist, Alex Rogers went out to the home he had seen this similar issue many times before. Upon further inspection, Alex knew that we would be able to help this homeowner out and drew up a quote on the spot. It included our WaterGuard Drain and a SuperSump pump system. It does not seem like much, but these two products do an incredible job at keeping water out of the basement.

The water intrusion in this basement can be seen along the wall and floor near the wall. This is because most of the water had been coming through the joint between the wall and floor. WaterGuard helps to prevent this water from getting into the basement, because it catches any water coming through this area. The water that is caught is immediately drained to the SuperSump, where it is pumped out and away from the home. That's about it for our system! It is a simple, but effective system that helps to solve a very important issue.

Water Intrusion in Anderson, SC Basement Corrected with WaterGuard Drain and CleanSpace Installation

This homeowner called us after a few rains that had hit the home recently. With the increased rain, the homeowner noticed that water was beginning to get into their basement. Since this was an area that they used quite often for storage and were considering partially-finishing, they wanted to make sure this issue was taken care of before any work was done. They came to the right place!

A System Design Specialist was able to come out just a few days after the initial call for a free estimate! During his inspection he identified the areas where the water was coming through and the severity of water intrusion in these places. Our Specialist was able to provide a written estimate for the homeowner at the end of the appointment. The homeowner wished to have the work done, so we set them up with an installation date!

The next step was for the crew to head out to the home and install the system. When the crew got there, they immediately began to work by excavating the floor around the perimeter of the basement and the hole for the sump pump. After this, the crew installed the SuperSump system into its hole and began securing the CleanSpace to the wall of the basement. The next step is to install the WaterGuard and make sure it drains to the sump pump. After this is done, concrete is mixed and the WaterGuard is covered back up! The crew then cleans up any mess that they have left, will answer any questions you may have, and it is as easy as that!

Water Intrusion in Anderson, SC Crawlspace Leads to Installation of CleanSpace and SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier

Water intrusion is a serious issue that affects many homes, often without homeowners even realizing that there is an issue. There are many different reasons for this, but the situation is the end is the same; an wet, moldy, and unhealthy crawlspace. Another thing people may not realize is that the air in the crawlspace eventually will make its way into the home, through the different floors, and out through the attic. This is called the "Stack effect".

Unfortunately, this homeowner was in a very similar situation. It had taken them quite awhile to have their crawlspace looked at, and it wasn't until they saw that the crawlspace floor was saturated that they decided to call All-Dry of the Carolinas. We had one of our Systems Design Specialists head out to the home and figure out exactly what was going to be the best option in order to keep water out and the moisture level down in the crawlspace. Our Systems Design Specialist had seen very similar issues in many home before, so he knew exactly what this home was going to need. A CleanSpace encapsulation system with a few other products to top everything off!

A few weeks after the Systems Design Specialist visited the home, one of our crews went out to the home and started to work on installing this system for the homeowner. The first thing that the crew had to work on was to dig out an area for the SuperSump system and around the perimeter of the crawlspace for the drain tile to be installed. Once the area was dug out, the SuperSump and drain tile were installed! After that, came the CleanSpace liner which helps to really seal off the crawlspace from the outside. The last step of the installation was to install the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The dehumidifier helps to ensure that the humidity level in the crawlspace is low enough to prevent mold form growing.

Belton, SC Crawlspace Has CleanSpace and SmartDrain Installed

When homeowners have installation installed in any home, they mean well. The only problem with fiberglass insulation is that when it’s damp, it’s not actually doing its job.  Not to mention, when the crawlspace is vented it’s really doing much of anything. Fiberglass insulation only works in a closed cavity because it’s so loose. Air passes right through it. Meanwhile, once the insulation gets wet it begins to sag and drop down to the crawlspace floor. Moisture, in any crawlspace, tends to do this to insulation. We can’t place all the blame on the insulation.

This Belton, South Carolina homeowner was having just this issue when they decided to give All-Dry of the Carolinas a call. We, of course, sent over one of our Design Specialist to take a look at the crawlspace. He came to the conclusion that CleanSpace, a SmartDrain, a dehumidifier, and an EverLast Door were the solution.

Our CleanSpace liner provided the home with a barrier from the ground. It’s thick and nearly impossible to rip, so any gases that pass from the soil and into the air are halted in their tracks. The SmartDrain is the solution for leaks in your crawlspace. We installed this item to alert the homeowner of any plumbing or other leaks in the basement. It comes with a WaterWatch alert to alert you of the leak until you are able to fix it. It captures the water and directs it down to the soil below the CleanSpace and drain until you can fix it. The dehumidifier, on the other hand, actually takes the moisture from the air and then pushes out dry, crawlspace ready air. Finally, the EverLast Door provides the nail in the coffin. It actually completely seals the crawlspace from outside air (that may change the humidity in the space) and creepy-crawlers.

The combination of these items was able to keep this crawlspace clean and moisture free. The homeowners are not quite glad they were able to get in touch with us in time.

Anderson, SC SmartJacks Installed in Crawlspace

Most people like to put off problems that they don’t want to deal with right away. It’s natural. It’s common. It’s something we all do from time to time. However, waiting to deal with problems concerning your foundation is not something you should do. The foundation is the most important component in your home. It is what is holding the rest of the home up. Without a stable foundation, you could be in big trouble.

That is what this Anderson, South Carolina homeowner knew when he began to have problems. His floors would sag. The molding would separate from his ceiling, and the issues were growing worse with each passing year. However, the owner was afraid of what it would cost to fix the issues entirely. So, instead of tackling the issue head-on, he waited on the problem until he could wait no longer.

Months after waiting, he found All-Dry of the Carolinas online and decided to reach out. We set him up with a free estimate with our Design Specialist, Alex Rogers. Mr. Rogers surveyed the crawlspace, bearing in mind where the floor/ceiling dipped, and concluded the foundation needed SmartJacks to push it back into place and stabilize it.

Our crew installed the SmartJacks soon afterwards. The job required they first install support beams horizontally. Then, they dug two-foot deep holes right where the SmartJacks were to be installed. These holes were then filled with cement and gravel. The SmartJacks were stationed on top.

Now, the customer doesn’t have to worry about those sagging floors anymore.

The Perfect Solution for a Crawlspace in Pelzer, SC

Fiberglass insulation does not last long in a damp crawlspace. You can expect to see the first sign of wear when you see the pieces start to drag and drop. That is a strong indicator that the moisture level in your crawlspace has reached an all-time high. Insulation should always be installed against the air boundary surface of the house. In a healthy, properly functioning crawlspace, that surface is the crawlspace walls and floors.

To create the best place for this insulation, a few changes needed to be made. The owner of the Pelzer, South Carolina home needed to meet with our Design Specialist directly. She contacted our company originally because she felt it was a good investment. The owner was only fixing up her house when she saw what had happened to her crawlspace. This prompted her to reach out to us at All-Dry of the Carolinas.

The Design Specialist surveyed the home the two of them came to the conclusion that CleanSpace—a thick, plastic liner—was the perfect solution. The CleanSpace would provide the perfect barrier to separate the house from the cold earth beneath it. This separation is essential to prevent water vapor from escaping into the air. Once the water vapor escapes into the air, it contaminates it and the air is back at square one. This barrier prevents that.

The CleanSpace was installed diligently by Jose Najera and his crew. It was sealed using a variety of methods and left alone.  For this homeowner, this was the perfect solution. It was no more, and no less than what she needed. At All-Dry of the Carolinas, that’s our speciality.

Crawlspace Salvaged by SaniDry and CleanSpace in Pelzer, SC

It’ll surprise most people, the things we’ve seen. The good, the bad, and the ugly are not foreign to us. If you’ve seen it, odds are that we’ve seen it a thousand times. Although we like to say that every case is unique—because they are—there are always a few things you can always expect.

When we took a look at this Pelzer, South Carolina crawlspace, we knew what was coming. We knew that every crawlspace with a dirt floor was bound to have moisture issues. Exposed dirt allows water vapor to pass up into the air. This increases the humidity within the space adding to the moisture. Now, because of this, the entire home had some mildew issues.  It stayed damp year-round.

The owners had attempted to remedy the problem by placing down a plastic liner. Unfortunately, not only did this liner fail to cover the entire floor, but it also wasn’t thick enough to serve as a barrier. Fortunately, we were able to install 20 mils thick CleanSpace along with a hefty dehumidifier. These products along provided the crawlspace with the perfect fix for their moisture and mildew problem.

Encapsulation Wanted in Anderson, SC Crawlspace

Here at All-Dry of the Carolinas, we don’t often get that client that knows exactly what he wants. However, this Anderson, South Carolina resident surprised us. One of the first things he mentioned was his desire for a full encapsulation. The owner had had a “vapor barrier” installed, but its usefulness wasn’t long lasting. In addition to being terribly thin, the liner didn’t cover the entire crawlspace. The majority of the dirt floor was left exposed. This, of course, meant that water vapor was allowed to continuously affect the crawlspace air. Besides the brick walls chronically letting in water, the moisture was added on two fronts. Both fronts needed a solution.

And so, naturally, we obliged. We sent out our Design Specialist, Alex Rogers, to perform the free estimate. He collected snapshots of the crawlspace here and outlined a list of products that would complete the encapsulation. Our crew began by digging trenches for drain tile or extra pipelines. The crew led by Foreman Ray Petry also sealed the interior vents. This ensured that any outside air would not be making an appearance any time soon. They then started the real work. They installed our patented CleanSpace liner. Now, this liner is unlike many others because it is a reinforced, thick material, but it is also versatile. CleanSpace can easily be adapted to any space with minimal haggling. It was pulled up along the walls, sealed, and wrapped around the supporting piers in the crawlspace. This practice is essential to the total encapsulation. Last but not least, we install the Aprilaire 1850 dehumidifier. This dehumidifier is the cake topping—the show stopper. It works tirelessly to remove every ounce of moisture from the air. Then, if its job wasn’t already huge, it pours out dry air into the crawlspace. The combination of all of these products provides the transformation the homeowner craved.

We were glad to be able to provide that transformation along with a happier, moisture free home.

Crawlspace with Water Issues in Anderson, SC

Owners of this Anderson, South Carolina crawlspace contacted us wanting a quote on an encapsulation. During heavy rains, water consistently got into their crawlspace. Now, they had a barrier, but it was old and worn. It wasn’t acting as a barrier should. Besides the rain water pouring through the walls, water would also rise up from the dirt earth. The crawlspace was a haven for humidity and moisture. A solution was needed.

Originally, we gave the owners a quote back in 2013. Our Design Specialist reviewed the entire home and gave them the free estimate. Unfortunately, waterproofing their crawlspace was not in the cards for them that year. Flash forward to 2019, we’re contacted again for a free estimate. We happily oblige, explaining that because so many years had passed we needed to deliver a newer, more accurate estimate. After meeting with Specialist Alex Rogers, the owners were now ready to move forward.

Crew Foreman Francisco led the installation. His crew installed our patented liner: CleanSpace. It’s a white, 20 mils thick material we use as a vapor barrier. The crew also, before wrapping the support piers and installing the liner, cleared the entire area of debris. They sealed all interior vents as prescribed and installed drain tile.  Lastly, they installed our Aprilaire 1850 dehumidifier.

The process was completed successfully. The owners were very satisfied with the work and we were more than happy to help.

Drainage system in Anderson Crawlspace

When water comes into your crawlspace there are several different ways to remove the water. In this crawlspace in Anderson, SC, water was flooding in during heavy rains.  In the “before” picture you see a bare crawlspace with a trench dug around the perimeter. This trench was made to fit in our 3 inch drain tile. This draining system is three inches in diameter and is placed under the soil. Whenever water tries to enter the crawlspace again, the water will enter the draining system and be guided to the SmartSump pump to be flushed from the crawlspace. The “after” picture shows the draining system anchored down by rocks and leading to the SmartSump.

This home in Belton, SC was experiencing water issues in their crawlspace. Because of the puddling of water in the crawlspace, mold had begun to form in areas. The mold caused weakening of the foundation which caused the floor joist to begin to sag.

To solve this problem our All-Dry team had to follow many steps, first the mold needed to be removed. Our All-Dry of the Carolinas Team used Mold-X, this product not only kills existing mold, but prevents further growth.

Once the mold issue was tackled, our team used a series of our waterproofing technology to save the home from the water effects in the crawlspace. To begin, CleanSpace liner was added to the crawlspace. CleanSpace is a 20 mil tick liner that is laid across the basement floor and wrapped around walls and piers. This liner works as a barrier to keep moister that is produced from the ground of the basement. In this specific case, the CleanSpace was just placed on the walls; this was to hold in moister that came from the water that dripped down the walls when entering the basement. Once the CleanSpace Wall was installed our All-Dry crew installed our SuperSump pump, which is a pump system that can flush up to 2,650 gallons of water per hour from the basement.

Once the waterproofing products were down, our team installed SmartJacks. The SmartJacks were placed under the floor joist of the home and then used to push the floors back into place. To install it, we excavate a two-foot cube at each SmartJack location. The hole is then filled with concrete or engineered to create a stable, loadbearing footing. The SmartJack sits on top of it with a custom-engineered base to prevent the support system from sinking when the moister starts to affect the soil. SmartJacks are then adjusted to the perfect position to support the floor joist of the home. This SmartJack technology, is made of steel which will not rust when exposed to moister and it can also hold over 60,000 pounds! This product was able to save this homes sagging floor problem.

With the combination of All-Dry’s different products, this crawlspace in Belton was thankfully saved.

SuperSump in Union, SC basement

This home in Union, SC was experiencing water issues in their basement. Water would seep down the walls of the basement and begin to puddle around the perimeter of the area. To solve this issue our All-Dry of the Carolinas team installed WaterGuard. The WaterGuard system is added to basements by jackhammering the perimeter. Once the cement is removed the WaterGuard System and a Sump Pump is placed into the space then recovered with cement. The WaterGuard system intercepts the water at the perimeter of the basement and drains it unseen and safely into the SmartSump where it is then flushed from the basement. WaterGuard is different because it is designed to not sit in dirt like most draining systems do. There is a special wall flange that creates space between the floor and wall allowing wall seepage to drain through the WaterGuard while keeping it away from the dirt. Since this type of drainage is separated from dirt, the chances of it clogging are nearly impossible! The WaterGuard leads the water to the SuperSump. The SuperSump can pump up to 2,650 gallons an hour, has a WaterWatch system, Superliner with 96 holes for water flow, and an Airtight Lid. The SuperSump then drains all water outside through the LawnScape Outlet.

SmartJacks were also added to help lift the floor joist.

WaterGuard installed in Honea Path, SC Basement

This home in Honea Path, SC was having water seeping through the wall on one side of their basement. This basement was being used a game room so when the water would seep into the basement it was becoming a real inconvenience. This walkout style basement had water coming in from the wall that was underground. Water would seep down the walls and start to puddle in the floor causing a real mess.

Our All-Dry of the Carolinas team sent out our design specialist Alex Rodgers, to get a quote on what could be done to keep this room dry. Alex quoted the family a combination of waterproofing products that would keep the water off the basement floor.

In this basement we placed WaterGuard, a SuperSump, an UltraSump, and Bright Wall. These products work together to capture the water as it comes down the wall and flush it from the basement. Bright Wall was tacked to the wall, so the water that flows down it would be guided straight to the WaterGuard. WaterGuard was added to the side of the basement where the water was coming in. This WaterGuard is a drainage system that is placed in the floor and angled so that any water it collects will be guided to the SuperSump Pump. The WaterGuard directs the water to the SuperSump Pump where it is then flushed from the basement outside to the LawnScape outlet.
