Before After
New EverLast Crawlspace Door for Union Mills, NC Crawlspace New EverLast Crawlspace Door for Union Mills, NC Crawlspace

One way that water vapor can get into the crawlspace is through the door. This is actually pretty common, as many crawlspace doors have gaps around them, which allowing air to flow into the crawlspace where the water vapor will start to condense. Once the water condenses onto different areas in the crawlspace (particularly organic surfaces), mold can begin to grow, which can cause serious problems for the homeowner.

The "before" picture shows pretty much exactly what was just explained. This certainly was not the worst crawlspace entrance, but we have certainly seen better! As you can see, the top and right-hand side of the door have pretty large gaps, which leaves a lot of room for air to rush in. The EverLast door will be even more effective since this door is almost even with the ground, which means in a flood, water could pretty easily get into the crawlspace.

The "after" picture shows the installed EverLast Door. It may not be as pretty or "rustic" as the old door, but it is certainly more effective at keeping the air out! The EverLast door creates an airtight seal when "shut", which you do by turning the knobs at the upper corners. This was a huge part of this job because it helps to keep the dehumidifier from working as hard because it keeps out unnecessary moisture.

Job Stories From Union Mills, NC
Crawlspace with Standing Water in Union Mills, NC Gets CleanSpace Installed

Standing water in a crawlspace usually means the crawlspace has some pretty serious water intrusion, which was definitely the case in this North Carolina home. The first picture gives a pretty good look at some of the standing water that was in the crawlspace. Again, this is not a problem that you want to have in your crawlspace, but luckily we were able to address the issue before it caused too much damage.

With just a few of our products, we were able to drastically change the nature and climate of this crawlspace. The difference between CleanSpace, a dehumidifier, and an EverLast Door can make is actually pretty remarkable! CleanSpace is the white plastic product that can be seen covering the entire floor of the crawlspace. The dehumidifier that can also be seen in the pictures is a SaniDry CX, and last but not least is the EverLast door, which will be shown in the Before and After about the same home!

The first product to be installed was the CleanSpace. Since this home was not in need of drainage or a sump pump, our crew was able to get started in laying out the CleanSpace. They covered the entire crawlspace floor and made sure to seal the area perfectly. Next came the dehumidifier, which is actually quite simple to install, although it may take some maneuvering to get it exactly where it should be (without tearing up the CleanSpace). Last but not least, the EverLast door was installed. This door creates an airtight seal that keeps any air or water vapor from getting into the crawlspace. This is extremely important because then a burden is taken off the rest of the system, mainly being the dehumidifier.

The floor in my bedroom especially is sagging pretty badly. I would like to see if you are able to fix it and what that would cost. Thanks, Rich
