Crawl Space & Basement Repairs in Rutherford County, NC

Standing water in a crawlspace usually means the crawlspace has some pretty serious water intrusion, which was definitely the case in this North Carolina home. The first picture gives a pretty good look at some of the standing water that was in the crawlspace. Again, this is not a problem that you want to have in your crawlspace, but luckily we were able to address the issue before it caused too much damage.

With just a few of our products, we were able to drastically change the nature and climate of this crawlspace. The difference between CleanSpace, a dehumidifier, and an EverLast Door can make is actually pretty remarkable! CleanSpace is the white plastic product that can be seen covering the entire floor of the crawlspace. The dehumidifier that can also be seen in the pictures is a SaniDry CX, and last but not least is the EverLast door, which will be shown in the Before and After about the same home! 

The first product to be installed was the CleanSpace. Since this home was not in need of drainage or a sump pump, our crew was able to get started in laying out the CleanSpace. They covered the entire crawlspace floor and made sure to seal the area perfectly. Next came the dehumidifier, which is actually quite simple to install, although it may take some maneuvering to get it exactly where it should be (without tearing up the CleanSpace). Last but not least, the EverLast door was installed. This door creates an airtight seal that keeps any air or water vapor from getting into the crawlspace. This is extremely important because then a burden is taken off the rest of the system, mainly being the dehumidifier.

SmartJacks are a great tool that we have at our disposal in order to help fix sagging or bouncing floors. SmartJacks help to raise the low points in the home and create an overall level floor for the building. However, it can be difficult to see the difference through pictures once they have been installed. That being said, this project gives a pretty good insight on what happens when SmartJacks are installed.

When working under homes we like to have at least a couple feet of room for our crew to work in, and this home just barely made the cut (and in some places it didn't). Many of the floor joists were either not supported, or very poorly supported, which was why the owner was in need of the SmartJacks. Our System Design Specialist found the problem areas and figured out exactly where the SmartJacks needed to be placed in order to provide proper support for the entire home.

Once the owner understood exactly what the Specialist proposed and how the SmartJacks worked, he was more than happy for our crew to come out and do the work for him. Once our crew got to the home, they knew it was not going to be one of the easiest job that they've done, because of how tight some of the areas were. However, the crew was able to get into the crawlspace, prepare and install the SmartJacks, and then actually have the jacks start support the weight. This was able to effectively remove the sagging in the floors and wash away the owner's worries.

High moisture levels under a home can cause quite a bit of problem. Since crawlspaces aren't the most visited areas, a lot of problems can develop without a homeowner even realizing. Many times homeowners don't realize there are problems in their crawlspace until the problem makes its way into the home. This usually comes in the form of a weird/musty smell or mold growing in the home. 

This is similar to what happened to the owner of this home in Lake Lure. They had not noticed the the increased moisture levels in their crawlspace for quite some time. During this time some major issues had arose, some of which can be seen in the photos below. The homeowner called All-Dry of the Carolinas to have us come out and figure out what the best way to handle these issues. Our Specialist came out to the home and the solution that was proposed was a CleanSpace encapsulation. 

Our crew was able to get out to the home shortly after the our Design Specialist visited the home. The system that was installed was a pretty typical system for us, but it was something that we knew would help take care of the homeowners issues. Since the insulation had been soaked with moisture, our crew began by pulling the insulation. It was then time to for the crew to dig out an area for and install the SuperSump Pump system. The crew went on to install the CleanSpace liner which is what really separates the crawlspace from the outside world. The last two big things that the crew did were to install the airtight EverLast door and to install the dehumidifier. 

When our All-Dry of the Carolinas crew made it out to Rutherfordton, NC they started their job by removing all trash and insulation that was littering the crawl space. The crawl space underwent a total encapsulation with CleanSpace, Drainage Matting, vent seals, an Aprilaire 1820, and a SuperSump Pump

WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the garage so that when any water seeps up from the ground it is caught in the drainage system and then sent to the SuperSump Pump. The SuperSump then flushes all water collected out through the LawnScape outlet into the yard.
