Cracks in floor and walls, mustly smells, and moisture are often ignored unnoticed, or simply thought of as minor problems by many homeowners, but when our customer in Chesnee, SC pulled up a loose floor board and noticed mold, he knew there was a problem that he needed to address immediately.

The home is only 10 years old, but when moisture and water intrude, problems can escalate. In order to kill the existing mold, we used a product call MoldX, which eliminates mold spores. To rectify the moisture and water intrusion issue, we installed a full encapsulation which includes drainage, sump pump, vapor barrier, and dehumidifier.

This customer also had and issue with his floors sagging. In the "before" photo, notice the wooden beams used to support the structure. At this point, the home needed more support. In the "after" photo we have installed Smart Jacks. The Smart Jack structural system won’t settle like masonry piers can; nor will it rot or shift like a wood post.

Now our customer has a beautiful and safe crawlspace!

This homeowner had a lot of work done when our company came out to his home. This before and after will only focus on a very small part of the entire job, however, this was a very important part of the project. It may not seem to have changed all that much between the two photos (besides that the area is covered in some white plastic), but it certainly has!

CleanSpace does much more than it seems, but it was not the only thing that was done in the crawlspace and in this photo. One thing that gets masked is that our crew sealed the vents in the crawlspace. In the before photo, the vents in the corner of the crawlspace can very obviously be seen, however, in the other photo, the area is covered. The crew actually seals the vents up and caulks them so that no air can get into the crawlspace from these vents.

Now that the sealed vents have been discussed, let's go back to the CleanSpace, which is what really makes the difference in a crawlspace. Having this thick liner keeps water vapor from penetrating it, which is good because that means the relative humidity level should go down quite significantly. One of the most important aspects of the CleanSpace's installation is that it gets sealed to the wall. This is important because if it is not sealed, then it is much less effective at keeping the water vapor out of the crawlspace. In the after picture, the CleanSpace has been sealed just a few inches below the "ceiling" of the crawlspace. Don't forget, CleanSpace also brightens up the crawlspace and makes it look much more "Clean"!

" Customer had water seeping into her crawlspace causing a musty odor, mold, and foundation problems. Design Specialist Christopher Geddie went out to give a free estimate and assess the customer's concerns. Our crew then installed our Cleanspace system, a SuperSump pump to discharge water, and a dehumidifier to maintain healthy air quality. The customer was very pleased with the work and is excited about the quality of her home now that the crawlspace is dry.”

Job Stories From Chesnee, SC
Chesnee, SC Crawlspace with Water Issues Saved with Encapsulation

More than people care to admit, the issues in their crawlspace happen gradually. It’s hard to notice at first, if you don’t really know what to look for. Eventually, after finding the occasional problem here and there, the owner realizes that the problem is bigger than they thought. Something should be done.

Luckily, this Chesnee, South Carolina homeowner came to that conclusion quickly. From the dampness in the air to the water collecting in the walls, every sign was there.  We, the professionals at All-Dry of the Carolinas, had the means to fix them.

The process was handled in a few stages. We sent out our Design Specialist, Jonathan Geddie, to investigate the property and comb every inch of the crawlspace. His inspection revealed what we expected. Water pooled from the walls and water vapor rose from the dirt like clockwork. The humidity was out of this world. Fortunately, the Specialist suggested a few products to rectify all of the issues in the crawlspace. It started off with drainage matting paired with our CleanSpace liner. The entrance is secured with an EverLast Door and a SuperSump Plus pump is connected to a LawnScape outlet. The Interior vents are also sealed. And to finish off the encapsulation, we install an Aprilaire 1850 dehumidifier.

We have no doubt that all of these products were able to work together and solve that pesky moisture problem.

Chesnee, SC Crawl Space Encapsulation

Mr. Cash was having some problems under his home with both water intrusion/mold and with sagging floors in his home. These are both pretty serious issues since one had to do with the health of the owner and the other problem has to do with the health and safety of the home. Mr. Cash noticed his floor sagging for awhile, but did not think too much of it, but when he noticed a strange odor in the crawl space, he decided it was time to see what the problem was.

Our Service Design Specialist, Jonathan Geddie went out to this home to check, mainly on the mold issue that the owner was worried about. While Jonathan did find a lot of issues with the crawlspace as far as moisture and mold, he also found the cause of the sagging floors. The best part about his inspection was that he was able to find solutions for every problem that was found under the home.

The first thing that was done in this crawlspace was the correct the sagging floors. This was done in a two-step process. First off, we had to get some supplemental beam, which is an extra length of the beam that helps to equally disperse the weight of the home to each of the SmartJacks in order to help decrease the pressure on each individual SmartJack. In total, there were six SmartJacks that were installed under this home.

After the SmartJacks were installed in the crawlspace, the crew started to focus on the encapsulation of the crawlspace. This was a very extensive encapsulation, which meant that there was a lot of work to do, installing a lot of different products. The crew started off by installing the SuperSump pump system in the lowest area in the home in order to pump out the water that will drain through from the drain tile that was also installed in the crawlspace.

After the drain tile was laid out, the SilverGlo and CleanSpace liner began to be installed. Once the CleanSpace was completely on the crawl space floor and walls, our crew sprayed Mold-X, which is a product that kills and protects against mold. The final touch on this full encapsulation was for the installation of one of our dehumidifiers, which helps to keep the moisture down under the home at a reasonable level so that mold will not be able to grow.

If you are interested in this type of system or are in the Chesnee, South Carolina area, we would love to hear from you! You can reach us at the number listed on our site, or by filling out a customer contact form on the website as well. We look forward to hearing from you!
